Spring Is In The Air

Earliest spring equinox in 124 years brings planetary entertainment

March 19, 2020

If you're stuck at home this week during the Wuhan Virus(covid19) outbreak, the planets and our moon are providing some early morning entertainment. Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and a crescent moon will be clustered together in the southeastern sky just before daybreak. Mercury will peek above the horizon.

All this is happening amid the earliest spring equinox in 124 years

The vernal equinox, which marks the beginning of spring in the Northern Hemisphere - and autumn in the Southern Hemisphere - will occur late Thursday night in the U.S. That's the earliest since 1896.

No kidding. It’s been so warm here the AC has kicked on several times. Hit 86F the other day.
All the Best,
Jeff

Its almost freezing cold outside 0°C plus wind

I would not be surprised to see snow outside that was not present all winter

I saw my first bumble bee a few days ago & I saw one the next day , it was quite big so it was probably a queen looking for somewhere to start a colony.

I saw venus and jupiter and a 3rd planet with the naked eye but I don’t know who he was. I’m in nj, usa and we’re supposed to have snow in a few hours

Halle, Germany –5°C outside
