Do you like horror movies?

Viral polls aren't allowed...

but threads with simple questions are okay.

It seems most people either love or hate horror movies.

At my house, myself, my sister, and my niece all love horror films.

My mom hates them.

In general, I like movies that are very inappropriate for most kids, and my favorite genre is horror.

Few horror movies actually scare me, but I like them anyways.

How about you...

Do you like horror movies?

no, mainly because the characters are so dense.
a strobing flashlight or just about any gun
would divert or end the immediate threat.

of course, supernatural heroes and villains
defy physics when it’s plot convenient.
as in: Roadrunner vs. Coyote cartoons.
so…they can be humorous.

I like the black and white classics like Wolfman , Frankenstein , the mummy .

It is amazing how excellent those earliest classics were.

WHITE ZOMBIE (Opening Sequence [CHANT]) (1932 - Halperin Productions)

here’s a free site for the B/W and silent ones:

The Thing , I like the first black and white movie and the remake with Kurt Russel .

Son of Frankenstein
Outstanding cinematography.

Wellp, a lot of people conflate horror, gore, thriller, and sci-fi, probably because X movies often contain bits of all of them.

Eg, “The Monolith Monsters” might be considered horror, because it’s got villians but which are made of stone, and not alive, per se. But it’s also mainly sci-fi, because there was no malevolence, just space-rocks that sucked in water and would grow to monstrous proportions, crack into pieces, and spread like weeds.

Jason/Freddy/Michael/Pinhead would probably be horror and gore.

Creep-in-the-house or other stalker flicks, more thrillers than horror, unless there’s a gore factor in which case they’d also be lumped into horror.

Old-timey flicks like Mummy/Frankie/Wolfie… horror, I imagine, but few if any jump-scares that seem to permeate “modern” horror.

“The Hound of the Baskervilles”, implicit horror, later revealed to be purely of earthly origin, so… thriller?

Eh, I like most of them, whatever they’re called.

You left out a major factor in the popularity of modern horror/slasher movies, the frequent need of the young actresses to shower, thank goodness showering didn’t figure into the roles of Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi.

Horror flicks are my favorite genre of movies.

I will probably end up watching every single scary movie on Amazon Prime, and Netflix while we wait LOL.

Depends on movie.
Evil dead with memorable Bruce Campbell or Shaun of the dead sure.
Alien, The shining, The thing, hilarious Dead don’t die, From Dusk Till Dawn, Grindhouse…

Anyone want a real horror movie?

Cats (2019) Cats (2019) - IMDb

Eep! :open_mouth:

(Just read the reviews.)

Love them!

I have some preferences that take some good ones down a peg and elevate mediocre movies that follow my “rules”.

Example: An American Werewolf in London lost points because the werewolf doesn’t walk on 2 legs (my werewolf rule).

The Howling on the other hand was an okay movie but the werewolf was perfect - many added points especially because it was a practical effect.

Try “Blood and Chocolate”. Great flick, even if it breaks your rules.

It’s been a tradition to watch at least 1 horror movie every night in October.

I remember that one, I agree, good flick!

The reviews do indicate that Cats is a horror-ific disaster of a movie. I watched the trailer, yup it looks pretty lame.

I actually got a copy, browsed through it, and yeah, it’s pretty scary.

I’m an essential employee and working overtime. I don’t have time to watch movies and thanks to you guys, I’m losing even more sleep now priorities!!!

Umm, you’re welcome?
