Uploaded yesterday a 4K video to youtube but on all my browsers it only displays max 1080p in the youtube settings box. On my smarttv it displays the full 4K in the youtube settings. What gives? Can a couple of you with pc's tell me if you are getting 4K on my vid below please?
When you up 4K to YouTube, they have to process it on their servers at their side. It can take anywhere from couple hours to 24 hrs. Chk your vid tonight or tomorrrow morning and your 4K should be ready.
Thanks everyone! Hank33, I've had other videos uploaded a week ago at 4K and still not showing on my pc, only on my TV will youtube show the 4K setting?
Try recording your 4K videos in 30fps instead of 60fps. Then upload and it should be in PC, after they process it. About smart TV, I dunno man don’t have one.
Like if you log into your YouTube account, you should see a little “4K” symbol beside your 4K videos. If it’s there then your pc, which I presume is able to play 4K will then play it in 4K. Unless it’s a browser thing?? I gotta wait till I head home to check out your video closer. I’m using cell data now so not the best for watching 4K videos.
Maybe when you’re logged in, click and watch video in browser and check that it’s set to 4k in the video player settings at the gear thing. Oh about the 30 fps, if you try a small 4k upload test at 30 fps, you’’ll see that it’s 4k in a few hours.
Tried all that! I did a quick search and from what I read many users couldn't get 4K even several months later. Strange that my tv will show 4K in the gear setting on youtube and work fine but not in any of my browsers.
Generally I prefer 1080p at 60 FPS over 4K at 30 FPS. Especially with the running water I feel a higher frame rate would result in a more realistic video. You could give it a try and compare the results if you’re interested.
Many phone specs say 4K, but it is not the default setting because of the massive file size.
10 minutes of 4K / 30fps should be about 3.75 GB on an iPhone, according to Apple.
10 minutes of 1080 / 60fps should be about 2.00 GB on an iPhone, according to Apple.
I think there is always compression on an mp4 file; if you have relatively little movement and contrast, then you can have more compression thus smaller file size. At least I think so.
I don’t doubt what the specs say. I doubt it has ever been switched to 4k mode though. Especially since you keep reviewing the specs.
You need to review the current settings inside the device. If you have never been to that setting screen to activate 4K, I am almost positive it is not set to 4k yet.
