Australia probably has implemented changes to their postal rates agreement with China, after the last meeting of the Global Postal Union rate agreement last September. The US is upping rates from China starting 7/1/2020.
After the previous agreement, China was deemed a developing country, so their import rates have been languishing at pennies on the dollar for a long time, making it lopsided for the receiving countries who were paying a lot more for their internal delivery services then they were being paid by the shipping country. This all about small parcels, under 4.4lbs/2kg.
This makes sense except that at present Aliexpress dealers are still offerig Free Postage to Australia. Maybe this will change soon ?
Very strange, I selected USA as the shipping point for a few randon items & the postage was cheaper, under 3AUD, cost of item was a couple of dollars more.
Shipping at Banggood is a bit of a lottery.
