21700 powered fan?

I was just wondering if anyone has come across battery powered fans using 21700 cells? I have a fan that uses 2x 18650 and it’s great, but I was looking for a multi cell 21700 powered fan as well. Here’s an example that uses 18650:

Thanks!

Looks pretty good, I have a cheapy $9 fan that runs off USB, I just hook it to a charge pack. It doesn’t have the features but it is cheap. It’s actually pretty good, think some dollar generals carry them.looks like that does the same.

Would love to know as well. I’m interested in a portable handheld or neck mounted model.

vipon had a few small even “personal” fans now. I wanted a bigger one just to slowly but continually vent the basement, so no joy for me either.

I don’t have much to contribute to the OP’s request for a 21700 fan. But I recently tested out the very common “opolar” 18650 fans, and it seems to terminate charging at just under 4.2V and also avoid over discharge by shutting down a little above 3.0V. I wish these fans were more upfront about the safety mechanism that’s in place. I can see myself letting the fan run over night if camping. And I’d keep the battery in there all the time just for convenience. I wish the battery compartment was a little bit bigger, as it doesn’t accept anything larger than my smallest 18650 that’s only like 2500mAh.

Thanks for the prompt response!

I guess Vipon is an Aliexpress type marketplace?

I purchased an Opolar laptop cooler before. Still haven’t attempted to frankenstein it to my MacBook Pro vents. Didn’t realize they also do fans. A wide variety too! Thanks for the tip!

If you google “Gongtian F95D” you should find a nice 21700 fan. The fan also has ability to output as a battery bank. Not sure how hard it would be to source in your location though.

Vipon is a site for Amazon coupon/promo codes.

It looks like it is 18650 powered?

about 3 years ago I was looking for the same thing, never found it, had to build my own, from server rack fan, and 4x 18650. it still works, thou batteries do not run as long anymore,

I found this but cannot confirm 100% that it uses a 21700 cell. Seems to now charge using USB-C and it claims to have a 4800mah battery. That would be a reasonable capacity for a legitimate 21700.

@Neco, thank you for sharing info about Gongtian F95D. I guess this is more ideally suited for the desk than handheld.

@bigtrav261, got it. Thanks for clarifying.

@JordanZHP, user Neco said that it’s 21700 powered.

@alpg88, wow! How cool!

@anonymous_user, yeah the Gongtian F95D mentioned by user Neco. Yeah, that would make sense that it’s 21700. I order many things from Aliexpress, but never used HKTV mall.

alpg88 that is cool!

Yes it’s 21700 powered. They have another model called F95S which is powered by 18650. The 21700 model is new for 2020. Other models from the same manufacturer are very popular in Hong Kong for past few years. The previous models included a flashlight option and used micro usb instead of usb c. Also previous models did not included option to be used as power bank

Ok thanks for the info.

I’d really prefer a 21700 multiple cells that are removable.

@Neco, Thank you for the helpful information!

Could you update the link for the 2 x 18650 fan?

Thx

I’ve thought about trying to retrofit one of those “DC” vornado fans. I have a couple 133DC. They are extremely energy efficient, and are dc brushless internally.

2 x 18650 fan from Amazon US:

These 18650 fans used to be readily available. Most of them now have built-in proprietary batteries or only use one 18650 battery.

2 Thanks

The ones with built in batteries aren’t really a proprietary battery. Most of them are still just using 18650s, but welded together and shrink wrapped into a little pouch that looks like this.

So you could, if you wanted to use loose 18650s to power it, just remove that and run the wires to an 18650 battery holder glued to the back of the fan or somewhere. As long as it’s just 3.7v. I don’t know if charging or low voltage protection would work the same, but there’s no circuits inside that pouch. Just two wires to the terminals. So I’d think that they would maybe still work. If you open yours up and therenis a circuit board in there then it will not work.

But I just run these fans off a powerbank. Way cheaper. You can’t even give away a micro usb powerbank that doesn’t have 18650s in it and they’re like 20,000mah. Runs those fans for days.
