Lumens Factory Seraph SP-6 For Malkoff M61 And Sportac Modules?

Hi everybody how do? I have Malkoff M61 modules and was thinking of a new host for them. I’m also getting some Sportac P60 modules. Apparently they are the same size as the Malkoff modules. I have a Kdlitker body and it is too long. I was wondering if anybody had tried the Seraph SP-6? Possibly somebody can recommend a good host other than the Malkoff MD2.

I have a fake clone of the aluminum Seraph SP6
Other than the included squishy switch that needs replacement, the host alone is quite an amazing shape with the dual cigar grips.
Definitely needs a lanyard to stop it from rolling forever though.

They’re longer than my Solarforce L2M on 18650 config so you might not want it due to its length.

Thanks for the reply! Actually I’m leaning towards the seraph because they sell a mcclicky switch for it. When I said length I meant the Kdlitker I have won’t take flat top batteries. They lose connection. The spring at the module is very soft so protected button tops are really the only feasible battery. The actual total length of the torch is fine.

Genuine question here: What is the continued appeal of the P60 drop-in platform? I’ve never dealt with them, so I’m just not familiar - when I started here, I never paid attention because it seemed like P60 was aging.

For me, P60 drop-in is still appealing because I have the flexibility to swap drop-ins with single flashlight host.

Roderic451, You might could try a Manta Ray M5 or M6. I couldn’t find a host option but the host with a dropin is only about $17. I have not used these hosts though so I cannot speak to their quality. Here is a link to the M5 (M6 is, I believe just slightly different in aesthetics): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1876593532.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.72.f71a15a5sVHquk

You could also try a Solarforce P1. There are still some of them floating around. They are polymer and won’t do as well with the heat but they are pretty good hosts and you can pick from some different colors. I think they are still available here: SBFlashlights - authorized dealer of Solarforce, XTAR, iTP, Lumintop, Thrunite, Spark flashlights

Unfortunately I can’t speak to fitment issues for any of the above hosts. I have never had any of the dropins you mentioned.

Scallywag,
The P60 format definitely has some disadvantages, most notably in terms of thermals. Wrapping the dropins, fitting quads, etc. can all help, but other lights definitely have a leg up from the outset. If you are looking for a light to be easy to upgrade and flexible (say green or red light for a special use now and then, but usually white) its a pretty nice host. The thermal disadvantages come with an advantage of quick and easy emitter and driver swaps. I have found them to be very durable too. I usually keep primaries in vehicle lights. Those lights are not hot-rods and aim more for runtime than output. The P60 hosts work really well here. The thermal disadvantage is not as big of a deal when the light is not being pushed to the extreme. Additionally I am just a sucker for the aesthetics. I think the platonic flashlight form is either a Surefire 6p or a 2D maglite

RIP Solarforce. I loved the L2M. I stepped away from the hobby for a few months and SolarForce went away in that time. Had I known, I’d have scooped up all the L2M’s I could get my hands on.

I’ve had good luck with the UltraFire 502b host with the Sportac Triple Dropin but it must have the outer spring to work. Since the Malkoff M61 doesn’t come with one, I’m not sure if adding one will make it work. Also the 502b cannot tailstand if that’s important to you. The link below lists the switch as clicky but doesn’t mention fwd or reverse. I got mine almost 10yrs ago and it’s a reverse

The other Ultrafire hosts in the 500 series should also work but I’ve only had experience with the 502b.

Thanks for the detailed explanation

I baby my L2M ever since solarforce disappeared. It’s a great light host and feels amazing.
But I’ll never get a WF502B just because I always have waterproof issues or thread get crossed and stripped to powder.

If the WF503B still exist I’d snatch that instead because it is very “solarforce”“surefire” looking

Yeah, so far the only thing even close to the L2M is a pricey lego host from oveready.

I’m sure they’re nice but close to 10x the cost.

You’re right about the 503b/504b. They are more SureFire-y.

I’m just attached to my 502b cuz it was technically the one that got me into the hobby

Thanks for all the ideas everybody I’ll look into those hosts!
