Is there any lights that's...

More powerful than the Sofirn Q8 and not cost hundreds of dollars? I like powerful 18650 lights and was looking for one stronger than the Q8. More lumens and candela but costs hundreds of dollar but I'm looking at the big names.

Nothing wrong with the Q8, it's fantastic and I happily paid $65 for it. Well done guys.

You probably know about off brands that are monster lights on a budget. Care to name some for me to research?

I want power!

MT09R. <200bux.

What are your specific needs? Or is it just for fun, having more output?

When I get the itch for a new flashlight, I go outside for a nighttime walk with several of my brightest lights and let loose. I’m reminded of just how incredibly far LED efficiency has come and then the itch fades off.

It's almost for fun and power but I really want power to light up down the street toward the school, about 200-300 feet away. I want to see where the dogs are coming from. We have outdoor cats and they are eating the cat food.

I'm using my Crosman 1377 to run em off but have a 9mm on my belt. A close encounter with two large dogs who didn't scare off had me put a real gun on my hip.

The law of survival in the jungle: killer be killed, maim or be maimed. The law of survival on the street in a normal neighborhood anywhere in America: same as the law of survival in the jungle. Because of loose dogs. It is not safe to open the door and walk out onto your unfenced property without a gun, because of loose dogs. I have never been in immediate danger because of hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanoes, drunk drivers, armed robbers, coyotes, javalina or earthquakes or anything else. Only loose ambush charging snarling and growling bare fanged dogs, three times in four years in 10,000 pedestrian miles on the suburban streets of a nice residential neighborhood. 99% of loose dogs in America are owned by somebody and live in the owner‘s house. Only 1% of loose dogs in America are truly stray, that is, truly unowned by anybody. I used to walk around at night with two flashlights, one in each hand. Not anymore. I have to keep one hand free at all times as soon as I wake up, step out of my bedroom and step out of my building. I need to get a medium powered headlamp, so I can walk around at night and get my nighttime exercise in the summer, with one hand holding a powerful flashlight, and the other hand free to defend myself against attack. At large dog offenders think that if they let their dog roam, it will behave as friendly to pedestrians as if the owner were immediately present. This is where at large dog offenders commit their fatal thinking error.

astrolux mf01s maybe ? costs under 200$ and has like 15 000 lumens max…

Most of the dogs are strays but some have collars so I try not to hurt those. They are either escapees or dumped. A blast from the 9mm sends them running and I thought I'd put blanks in my 22 revolver and scare em off with it but what if I need a bullet hmm...?

Funny thing about those high power lights that can be had for cheaper are over rated. I bought one that claimed 10K L for around $60 was no brighter than my trusty old Nitecore P36 2K L. It has 18 LEDs so I guess that makes it a flooder. Maybe I don't understand what lumen or candela is.

I think I know what to look for, the high lumen/candela with 1 to 4 LED jobs. My Acebeam K65 has 6K L and works but faulty and the yellow beam sucks. I like white like the Q8.

Thanks for the suggestions and I researched them. The Haikelite MT09R is very promising but reports of QC problems bothers me but the YouTube clip showed it to be a monster light.

I am not sure if it fits your needs, but have you looked to the Fireflies ROT66 Gen II?
Fin17 has somedeals in that:

Fireflies also has a US wharehouse. You may find some more info on their website: http://www.ff-light.com/index.php?route=common/home

I think I found it. A Thrunite TN36. You got one?

TN36 gives a lot of flood, but not a lot of relative throw. Just keep that in mind.

Hmm... didn't notice that. I guess I'll just use my K65 and put up with a yellow light. Thanks for everything, might as well save my money.

Oh yes, if you’ve got an Acebeam K65 then you’re all set. Save your money. Wait for the next major innovation! :+1:

Funny thing is that the box the K65 came in has 6500K checked but then it was used so I have no idea what I got. That yellow beam makes me want to puke.

I have a Noctigon K1 with SBT90.2 on order. That thing will put out the brightness of the Q8 but in a much narrower beam, for great reach to see where the dogs are coming from. And it’s only $80. K1 at intl-outdoor.com

My K65 will do that and more powerful than the Q8. It's just the color I don't like.

LOL, Ok that one made me laugh. Javalina, mean little things. I had a friend spend a night in a tree because of them and he ran out of ammo in his glock. I have wanted to go hunting for them, always seemed to be a situation of not enough time or not enough money to take the time off.

Out of the four legged things I have had problems with Feral or stray dogs have always been at the top of the list. Well when I lived in the lower 48. Right now It is moose, 4x dumber than a goldfish and able to fend off a pack of wolves.

Have you considered putting a filter on it? There are some that can alter a tint nicely without much loss of lumens.

What filter can turn yellow to white?

Blue.
