DRY 3 x XML (image heavy)

Obviously I don't want to do yet another review of this light, who's going to want to read that when it's done by someone with as little experience as me?

I'm going to keep this as short and sweet as possible.

I just want to share some images I've taken of the light, and I'll be getting out later today (weather permitting) to take some beam shots of it out in the middle of nowhere...using google earth and os maps to roughly guide you on distances.

Now, as for a review..

This thing isn't the best made light...neither is it the best looking light. However, as you're all probably aware there aren't many lights that can put this sheer volume of light out of the front.

For me personally the size/ shape of the light is perfect..I'm 6 foot and have hands to match so the thing fits fine in my hands. it keeps the weight right where I want it. I personally think all multiple cell lights should have them side by side not end to end...twirling them around like some kind of stick isn't for me.

The actual finish on the DRY is acceptable, the body leads something to be desired and the machining is basic. As other s have said there simply isn't any real effort in the design...no WOW factor (until it's turned on that is).

Overall I'd have to call this light a success, it does exactly what it set out to do.

It's a great light for getting as much as you can out of it's size.

Now, beam shots...if you read down you'll quickly find the problem I ran in to when taking these. This means the pictures are no where near as good as I want due to not even setting my camera up fully.

First off is a 50m shot...control

Followed by a fenix e21

and the DRY...

Next something closer to 100m...

PLEASE...don't base anything on these shots...they were rushed and I have no idea of the settings due to trying to grab what I could before the locals kicked off. I'll be planning somewhere more remote to capture better images over the next week or so.

What I can tell you is that at around 40-60m out the spill from this thing is literally everywhere. If you where going hiking for instance (my use) the light would probably be all a group needed. I think I'll be taking this, an AA for back up and with everyone having a cheap head light...you could afford to run this only ever on high and medium with turbo being purely for "ermm where on earth are we?!" moments.

Cool, looking forward to your beamshots

Nice, thanks

Very nice pics, Watkins! I can't wait 'til my DRY arrives!!

As for the review, usually a picture really does say 1000 words. Good pics of all the little details tell more than any review can say. All that needs to be added is things like switch feel, weight, and relative output - things that a picture can't relate. I'll take a review like yours with good pics any day. :)

more details to be added to the first post, but beam shots did not go well!!

Went to a small local park with a straight of around 140m, only along the side is houses....the pet dogs started barking and really going at it so I pretty much packed up and got out before someone kicked off....20+ dogs barking and running around....house lights flicked on pretty quickly.

Thanks, that third picture down with the emitters visible was so nice I've actually made it my desktop background! I'm not sure how long I'll keep it but it's a very good quality macro.

If you wanted higher res just drop me a pm, probably not my best but then I am using an old lens.

Nice pics. Mine appears to be stuck at ISC NEW YORK NY(USPS) for 3 days, possibly Customs?

Not 100% sure on the US system, but I'd imagine so....stuff can sit in the UK for a week or two if there's a back log.

Thanks for the offer but this one seems fine at the res it's at already :) I think it's because it's so close up so there is little really fine detail to make out.

It's a great picture by the way. It does a good job in my opinion of reflecting the simple but effective beauty of good clean engineering, the sort of thing that keeps me interested in this hobby.

Damn, I hope it doesn't take too long for me to get it. I'm dying here! lol!

ISC new york is deff customs! I've had packages arrive the next day after showing that info, then again i've had packages that take 2 weeks to arrive after hitting ISC

added a couple of rubbish beam shots, planning to take my time and do more somewhere a little less urban sometime next week.
