Charger for Samsung inr18650-30q

Hi all

I have a XTAR SP2 charger that I have been using to charge my Panasonic NCR18650A batteries. I have now updated my torch/flashlight to the Lumintop FW3A and changed my cells to Samsung inr18650-30q. These are unprotected and have higher ratings than the Panasonics.

Is the XTAR SP2 safe to use with the Samsung inr18650-30q. Will it prevent overcharging and is it suitable? will it give the batteries a decent life?

Or do I need to invest in a new charger? If so what do you recommend, being budget conscious?

Thanks in advance

I would not buy another charger. The 30Q can handle at least as much “beating” as your Pannies. Reducing the current to 0.5A is a good idea for both of them. If you’re not in a hurry, of course.

The XTAR is capable of 0.5A. Do you recommend a new charger because 0.5A is what you’d recommend charging at or because its old and a smart charger would be safer?

The XTAR SP2 is perfectly fine to charge 30Qs.
