Withdrawn-Thrunite AAA titanium mod for parts

Sent this to Vinh at Sky Lumen to hot rod. He did a great job but unfortunately I stripped the threads in the head. The mod was his Vn2 programmable on copper and needs a 10440 to operate. I was intending to transplant the guys into a new Thrunite aluminum but decided against it. I have well over $130 into it so it’s my loss. I have no experience doing this and don’t want to attempt it.
Will include a new Thrunite Ti3.
Asking $55 shipped and PayPal’d.

New Ti3 V2

For the sake of learning…could you please tell what did you do to strip the threads?

The Vn2, being programmable, requires many twists (on and off) to advance to a given UI.
To get to the programming mode, it requires 8 on and offs, then you go to the mode you want which may be up to 20 twists.
I guess the threads were in need of a decent lube which I did not have. Bought that too but it waa already too late.

Sad to see regular wear killing a light…how long did it live?

Titanium tends to be gritty. Some brands are more gritty (DQG, Thrunite) than others (Fenix, UltraTac).
I own a few Ti AAA lights and I lube them regulary. But only after I clean them (to remove the grit).
Dry threads will kill these little lights. Twenty twists to enter programming sounds like suicide.

Far from regular wear. Rapid on/off twisting 20 times on several occasions with gritty threads took its toll. The light is relatively new, maybe 6 months but didn’t use it because of the stock UI. It sat in a drawer until I sent it to Vinh.

Use a cell & piece of wire to set up these type of lights.

I wouldn’t expect it would be this bad. :frowning:
Good luck with the sale Venice!

Thanks.
Probably end up trashing it.

Forgot to mention the led is SST 20 3000k if it matters.
