UniqueFire UF-2160 XML T6 3-Mode 18650... NO-strobes

So my constant nagging seems to have an effect...

UniqueFire UF-2160 CREE XML T6 3-Mode LED Flashlight (1*18650) $19.78

So it's a no-strobes sibling to the UF 2100? Or just a description error?

Modes: 3
Mode Memory: -
Mode Arrangement: Hi > Mid > Low
Circuitry: Digital Regulated 1700mA Current Output
Brightness: 1000lumens maximum brightness

I will take the 5 mode to save 4 bucks  m

Same as the Yezl Z1 only ten bucks less.

It also appears to be more sanely driven for the form-factor. My 2100 gets too hot, too fast to be of use other than in winter.

I like the slightly different body, too...

Nice find Vectrex!

The more flashlights I buy, the more I hate disco modes.

I would gladly pay 6 bucks more to NOT have blinkies that you have to cycle through!

trooplewis... +1 ... in fact I ordered the 6x7135 just to get no-strobes and hopefully no visible PWM for my UF 2100... which is my most used 18650 light atm.

What's a bit odd that the 2160 seems to have no knurling at all, if the pics are showing it right.

In this Ebay auction it's with high-low-strobe.... hmm, KD isn't the most trustworthy with the specs... I mean "twisty switch"... come on...

Hope I'm not hijacking your thread, but I was wondering if it's possible to get these flashlights with a mode selector or buy one separately and attach it?

Also, I was wondering if it's possible to get a UniqueFire UF-2160 with knurling or if it's possible to add knurling myself?

Thanks for any help.

Well you can put in a new driver if that is what you mean. Or do you mean a ring on the outside to control the modes. If so just search magnetic control ring.

What would a new driver do exactly? To be more specific I was talking about something on the outside of the flashlight, preferably near the on/off clicker that would allow me to manually select the mode (e.g. If i put it on high, every time I click it on it will be on high, etc.).

Edit: I just did a search on the magnetic control ring and it looks very interesting. Can those be installed on any flashlight?

Hi Stan313,

the Uniquefire/Ultrafire UF-2100 (with knurling) is available in 1-mode,3-mode and 5-mode . If no suitable mode configurations are available and you know someone who can solder a few contacts you implement almost any 17mm standard driver that's is fitting for the voltage range, like the one mentioned in post #6.

Thanks for the reply. I'm really more concerned with the mode selector. I would love to have the 5-mode UF-2100 if I can get one with a ring selector like Scaru mentioned in post #6. Would this be possible?

That would be very hard to do right... you got to have serious machining skills for that and the access to machines (lathe, drill etc). I don't say it's impossible, but just very hard. Sunwayman offers several lights with a stock magnetic ring selector, but they do cost a little more than the *Fire lights.

Basically, no. You would have to find a light that has that built in.

Okay guys, thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

Do any of you know of a 1000 lumen flashlight similar in size to the UniqueFire UF-2100 (with knurlings) that has a ring selector with either 3-mode (High-Medium-Low) or 5-mode (High-Medium-Low-Strobe-SOS) options?

Thanks again for any help.

What price range? Sadly most of them are more expensive.

Anything under a $100 sounds good.

Does it have to be the magnetic ring selector? Or would head twisting for mode change also be OK? Then there would probably be more options besides Sunwayman.

There's the sunwayman v20c. A friend has one and I liked his and am trying to resist ordering one myself. Just under your price limit, probably a bit over with shipping. http://www.batteryjunction.com/sunwayman-v20c.html

Any style would be okay, as long as I wouldn't have to cycle through the different modes by continuously clicking the on/off button.
