Just got a couple of new lights delivered QUICKLY (as usual) USPS. Sent PayPal on Jan 25th , arrived in my mailbox Jan 28th. Nice! The $7 shipping charge is worth it to me in terms of having the lights in 3 days, not 3 weeks (or more) If you order $75 or more, they will ship for free in the Cont. US.
#1 is a Solarforce L2T body. $18
#2 is an XM-L "tactical" single aa battery light, $24
Both very nice lights, flawless workmanship, very proud to have them. But a couple of things to know if you want either, they are both forward clickies, and you must select the mode you want with a soft-press of the tailswitch before you give it a full "click". Once fully on, you can't change modes without clicking it off and soft-pressing to select, then click to keep the mode you want on.
#1 is a host only, I put an XM-L drop-in into it that I had in a 501B. Be aware, this light does not tailstand, does not come with a clip, and there is no lanyard hole. So it is best carried in a holster or used as a nightstand light, or I guess you can buy a lanyard ring from solarforce that attaches to the body. You guys with L2's know what I mean.
The L2T has a rubber cigar-holder ring on it that has a "flat" on it to make it anti-roll when you place it on a table. It also has a very deep and NON-crenalted bezel, i.e. does not need to be Foy-bezeled.
#2 is an XM-L with AA power. It will run (at 230 lumens) on a 14500, and at about 130 lumens on a regular AA alkaline. Again, it's a forward clicky, takes some getting used to. Comes with a pocket clip, and is nicely finished. Lots of light with a 14500, with an AA it is about as bright (but more floody) as a C3 stainless. Has a low-low mode as well (moonlight low) which I like.
This light is in keeping with my current obsession, AA lights. I think I have a drawer full of about 500 AA batteries for emergency use that have a 7-year shelf life...I hope. Its a nice light, but at $25 is is not as nice as my $39 Klarus ST10, or the Caveman (2xAA), but close to my Jetbeam BA10. Funny, even with a protruding tailswitch, the Lighthound AA will tailstand; it is a very flat rubber switch. No lanyard hole either.
These two lights are nice higher-end budget lights, but with certain limitations. Just be aware of the lanyard situation and if you really like reverse clickies, you might want to buy one separately and install it yourself, but that does add to the price of ownership.
