I purchased my Sunwayman C20C few years ago. I really liked this flashlight. A compact 18650 flashlight with a side switch was perfect for EDC. Unfornately, I accidently dropped it and it just stopped working. I was disappointed because it was less than 3ft high drop and it should have handled that impact no problem. Sunwayman.com doesn’t exist anymore and I can get support to have this fixed. I still have a good host and working emitter XM-L2. If I could fix the driver or replace the driver with side switch. I will somehow revive this light. I am looking for some advice what would be a good replacement driver compatible with this Sunwayman C20C host or help on how to diagnose and fix it. Thanks
I would start with the obvious, like making sure everything is still tightened correctly. If that looks good, then I would take it apart and see if there is anything that looks disconnected. Hopefully it’s just a wire that got loose. Seems strange that a driver would go bad after a drop, but you never know. Then you can start testing individual components.
Thanks. I did try that but no luck. When I bypassed the driver and connected the battery to the emitter it still works. I am not vwry familiar with the on board components. Where should I start to troubleshoot?
Can you get a clear pic of the other side of the pcb? Looks like the other side has a inductor, I have seen a few reports of the inductor coming loose on a few sunwayman models that had been dropped. It might be worth a check.
You could also take a wire and short between the 2 switch terminals momentary to eliminate the switch.
I dont see anything that looks like it might be bad or out of place besides the solder ball thats setting on the inductor coiled wire.
If you have a hotair station you could try reflowing to see if maybe a connection has failed.
You can short the two switch pins with a piece of wire to eliminate it, switches do go bad occasionally.
Another way to check the switch if you have a DMM is to probe each switch leg at the same time and push the button to see if you have continuity.
If you have continuity when the button is pressed, then the switch is good.
Those are some nice pics you provided.
This is still one of my favorite lights, I had two of them and they both died exactly the same way, a small drop. This light was just too fragile unfortunately.
Is there something like this that is already preassembled that is easily available? My soldering skills is basic. I don’t think I can put the components myself
Lexel has offerings here. Lexels driver compilation
The only thing is getting the switch mounted to the driver for operation might be challenging.
You might PM Lexel and get his thoughts with this.
I see his not been around for a few weeks, hopefully his doing fine and just took a vacation.
