What if costs don't matter?

Alright, it's not the year 2525 but technology has made quite some significant progress in the past decades.

For instance, today we got:

I wonder what could be realized in terms of a "state-of-the-art" flashlight if costs did not matter at all. I suppose the largest losses in efficiency are to be found in the emitters, causing too much heat that cannot be transferred and dissipated quickly enough. This problem will remain as long as LEDs are being used. But....using higher voltages (with consequently lower currents), better thermal and electrical conductive materials both between the LED's MCPCB, the driver and in between the battery's contacts as well as latest technology in power supply should result in much better performance, shouldn't it?

well, i envision a “virtual” flashlight-type-thing.
it receives existing output, so…when it “shines”
on something, that something is enhanced visually
in a holographic manner. if you looked directly
at the front of the future flashlight,
no “glow” would be apparent.

2525 you say? Eye implant so you don’t need a flashlight at all

I guess I’d plop down the big bucks for the latest Janes and see what the state of the art is in surveillance or military lighting.
It’s amazing what a Dept of Defense budget can get you.
Costs about $700 per year for the magazines, and you might need several. About $1000 - $1500 each for the yearbooks.
Then get out the checkbook - The BIG checkbook.
All the Best,
Jeff

This lol! Human ‘hop ups’ so to speak. You know it’s coming, just a matter of time and convincing people. A LOT of young people are wholesale dumb nowadays, they have zero life skills, maths skills and largely can’t spell or create a sentence properly. The English language is fast going back to caveman times with ‘grunts’ or ‘slurred words’, I can’t even understand what they are saying most pop/rap tracks now :person_facepalming: - I can see ‘computers’ being implanted at birth so they can do without the hassle of learning.
Wall-e rings a bell for the future of mankind…… :stuck_out_tongue:

Luxor Sky Beam, a 42.3 billion candela tunnel of light - the strongest in the world - that shines exactly vertical from the 39 xenon lamps on top of the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. … The beam’s 39 lamps are each 7,000 watt and cost $51 (£40) an hour to run.

One for each corner of the house, please.

Cheers.

If costs did not matter I would not be here.
