I have a wowtac A4 that is a great budget find for a throw, it’s the old version with pretty good 2a+ output to the xhp-35 HI and 2 18650 in series with boost driver. I like the UI, and the driver looks like i’d damage it if I tried to remove it - problem is, I’m not a big fan of very cold white.
I have some XHP35.2’s from digikey in a better tint around 4000k and higher CRI, I know throw will decrease some, but I’m ok with losing a little candela for a better color temperature. Is that the a good option? I don’t know if this driver would work with 6v LEDs or just 12v only.
-I could slice and XHP50.2 and put it on a 12v board, but it’s a smooth reflector thrower so I don’t know if I want to go with something with 4x the led die size or if that would work well with the reflector.
It’s a really cheap, but awesome for the price flashlight, so open to suggestions on an emitte swap that might increase efficiency at best, but more important, improve the color temp/tint. Thanks
