Hi everyone on this great forum. I'm new here. As my heading states, i have high functioning aspergers autisim. As well as ocd and anxiety. When I become interested in a topic, i research and figure out everything i can about it. I got into flashlights, and light collecting about a month ago. Been buying them like crazy. With my anxiety disorder, i get very excited and anxious about a new light on order. I currently have 3 on order. I also have been playing guitar for 12 years, and road cycling for a long tim as well. I think this forum is great, and I am glad it exists. Anyhow...just wanted to introduce myself.
Welcome to BLF! If you are buying lights like crazy, you will fit in well around here...
I'm a fellow fanatical roadie (23 years) as are several other members - flashlights rule for nightriding.
By the way, there are a couple of obsessive compulsive flashlight buyers here as well, but I'm not naming names [*cough, cough, ILF, cough, rikr, cough*]
There is a tendency into culinary skills recently be sure to check this thread for something rather unique about flashlights. :)
Oh on the anxiety topic many here are on the same bandwagon as you do. Pretty trigger happy on paypal when they see a light they like... so Welcome, again between similar minded. :)
Girlfriend is at Glasgow Uni, hence my knowledge of the Uni year...she likes to talk, it was her second choice. I've been up to Aberdeen a couple of times now. Must get a lot of use out of your lights...it's dark a lot up there
If you get anxious waiting for orders, I would skip ordering stuff from DinoDirect and CNQ altogether. manafont and DX are reliable, but will still take 3-4 weeks to get to your door usually.
On the other hand, Lighthound and Shiningbeam are in the USA and their stuff will usually get to you in 3 or 4 days. And the quality of their stuff is quite nice.
Didn't have to turn the lights on till 4:30pm. A month ago i needed artificial light by 3pm. It was even light enough to see the (black) assistant by 8:30am when I put her out to pee.
In 1989 I worked in Shetland in the summer. It never got dark enough to need light outdoors. I once went out every hour through the night to read a newspaper without artificial light. Managed just fine.
This time of year, SAD is a big issue around here. Very blue LEDs are supposed to help. I have my doubts about that.
Sharing an office with someone who suffers from it is the reason for my doubts.,
