Finally, a 75mm head XM-L thrower Zhi Jun JD9668

So now the budget lights have joined ranks with the DIY modders with 75mm (OEM and Trustfire X7), and the Lambda Varapower Turbo XM-L. So won't match Lambda VPT with its 120k cd, but i guess 75k cd is definitely touchable.

The UCL 72.7mm x 1.85mm lens might fit too....but could rattle.

Tempting, but price is too high.

Used to be a P7. 468g, that's heavy (good mass to heatsink).

Looks interesting for modding. 6cm 6cm by 12cm long only! 2 x 18650. Smaller than Notecore TM11.

asd

I think 75mm is the outer bezel diameter, so don't know if the reflector is close to the DX one or not http://www.dealextreme.com/p/sst-90-smooth-aluminum-reflector-7-3cm-diameter-47996

Should be around there....

TMR-73

http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?312461-TMR-73-SMO-reflector-Flashlight-82-000-lux

DX reflector 47996 is smaller than 109 LED bezel.

My TMR-73 sold out but UCL will fit with 109 LED bezel is around 78-79mm (I'm not sure).

Because Canon 77mm Protect lens is smaller than 109 LED bezel.

Zhi Jun JD9668 looks great, but I like side by side battery tube (3 or 4 side by side 18650) .

Interesting, but way too expensive. As a host it also look a bit cheap. For that price, I'd buy Trustfire X7 and mod it to XM-L.

They have the 40W HID now, looks like a decent design as well with a 70mm class reflector. 3 x 18650 side by side.

DD used to sell the X7 for just 68 bucks shipped with the -20 dollar off sale. I'd have gotten it if not for the fact that you need to mod the reflector a bit for it to focus well.

Not sure how much is the Crelant 7G5 version 2. Shessh why don't they just bite the bullet and do a 75mm class thingy instead of tweaking LEDs, drive, reflector, heatsinking etc. It's not as if they are doing copper to LED direct bonding or something....

The depth of the head assembly is ridiculous! Having a side switch is nice but not if it results in a head that long.

they have another version with a 61mm head diameter and only 250mm long.

I’d like to see a fixed aspheric XR-E R2 in something smaller than a C8 but maybe a little bigger than P60 body. One mode driven at least at 1.5A. No crenelation but with a deep enough bezel to be able to be placed head down.
Add a constant current driver and sell it for under $40
Even though I’m not really looking for another light that would make me change my mind

x7 trustfire does not fit the 72,9mm ucl,it has 78mm outer diameter.I trimmed it down to 72,2 to fit. THis one is 75mm outer, so i believe it might have worser throw than a good modded xm-l x7 and of course it won't fit the ucl.

The only case here with that is that it might have a very deep reflector as it seems!

Damn, your country's really cold now. Condolences about the deaths all over Europe. (And also in Japan/South Korea).

But from LED's POV, that is good for stuff like DRY.

Looks really decent for some modding. A battery level indicator and a sideswitch.

Also nowhere to be found in retail. :/

Budgeteer, it is a fishing light (so-called). So it has blue.

光源:2x3W 蓝光 LED+白光 LED
亮度:白光 LED 130LM,蓝光 LED 70LM
white = 130 lumens, blue = 70 lumens. 2 LEDs. Cute huh...

Last night, in the coldest places in my country, it was -36C (-32.8F). Yes, there's a lot of deaths because of this cold, mostly homeless people. But much worse situation is in Ukraine, according to press, people dying in their houses there (poor ones, who can not afford heating, I guess).

Yes, this temperature suits overdriving LEDs, but it's not good for li-ion batteries.

Wrap up the body tube. I guess in operation, the high heat from the head also would maintains the cells above 0 deg C.

I put the DRY in my freezer before, -18 deg C but very little wind (maybe 1-2kph inside, the output was blowing). The head hit like 53 deg C after 10 minutes. Body tube was cold but not freezing cold. Fully charged Sanyo 2600s, they pack a whammy and have a flat plateau discharge.

I saw the TMR-73 mod in CPF long time ago... and it's actually you who made it, Pok!

But last time the "Luminator" location was China...?

I still want it! I knew it was blue... i could use a few blue emitters. Anyway those would not last there more than checking it out at first. Modding was 1st thing in mind when i saw the body.

Tried taobao agents... didn't work. It is supposedly a under 15usd unit so under 20usd "freeshipped" is what i look for.

If anyone is able to get one please PM me. Thanks!

the flashlight charging two 18650 series, I do not trust, it is not prudent, in my opinion. Okay only if each battery is monitored during charging.
