Charger Broke - Fixed It?

Not only did I fix the charger with wires and magnets, I am bypassing the protection circuit on some tenergy cells by tapping directly to the cathode through a hole I made in the wrapper.

How long before I blow something up?

not long. why bypass protection?

These cells have some strange circuitry along side of the protection circuitry that drops the voltage to 3 volts when a load is applied. However, you have to charge them at a really low rate. The protection was kicking in at the 500mA setting on the 4Sevens charger. So, I cut a small square out of the shrinkwrap and attached the magnet directly to the cell to charge since the Tenergy charger that came with the cells wasn't charging properly.

Use the electrical tape to patch the cell or use kapton tape

I don't see the need to patch the cell. The inside of the Streamlight PT2L that the cells are used in is anodized. Also, I don't see how they could even touch the walls of the light if it weren't. They were headed for the trash anyways, just seeing if a normal charger could revive them. If it does, then I might worry about a little tape to keep them from turning the light on when it should be off.
