Which NiMh batteries work best in a TK70?

Thinking of getting a TK70. I was going to buy some of the blue Tenergy 10,000mAh batteries. I noticed that Tenergy makes a battery called a Centura that is 8000mAh. Titanium makes a 12,000mAh battery. There are some others. Just wondering if there is a clear advantage to any of these in a TK70 and if so, which one is best. Thanks

I heard these were the best but pricey, you could check with Shane to see what his best price might be....

After doing alot of reading here and on CPF I found that the Tenergy Premium 10,,000 hs come highly recommended. Of course I do not have mine yet (darn mail) but that is what I bought. Those and the blue Tenergy are not LSD but that is OK for me. The one rikr has recommended seem fine too. I know that a guy named Shipwreck on both CPF and the Beretta Forum told me he got about 1 hour 18 minutes on the blue Tenergy but that the batteries need to be cycled a couple times to get the max from them. Hope this helps. By the way if you contact shane@protacticalshop.com he can get you the tk 70 and he is an authorized dealer. He sold me one for 171.80 with shipping. Good luck and hope you enjoy your's.

I have gathered about 38 D Nimhs over the last few years and when I bought my TK70, I did a runtime test on the following cells.

I ran the TK70 on turbo and timed it until it automatically dropped to high.

Tenergy Premium non-LSD 10,000mah = 85 minutes

Tenergy Centura LSD 8,000mah = 74 minutes

Old Style AccuEvolution 10,000mah = 76 minutes As far as I know, no longer available.

New Style AccuEvolution 10,000mah = 61 minutes

Thanks fnsooner that pretty well sums up what I have read and that is why I purchased the Tenergy Premiums.

I'm wondering about the blue Tenergy 10,000mah? I notice they are sold in combo kits with the light and charger on different sites. I can buy 8 of these batteries shipped for $25 from Marrs.

Those are the one's that Shipwreck uses and he says they work fine. He claims he gets 1 hour 18 minutes with them on turbo.

I have never used the blue ones, but heard they are decent. Here's a Ebay link for what appears to be a good deal. http://www.ebay.com/itm/360432953035?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

This was posted over at CPF by drmalenko. I doubt the link will last long over there.

I have bought from those people before and I like them. They are Marrs industries. They ship very fast. They are a insurance salvage company. They buy salvage containers from insurance companies and then resale them on Ebay. My friend just picked up 8 tenergy d cells from them for $25 shipped.

Oops, yes we were talking about the same seller.

I got the accuevolution. Mostly due to the Low Self Discharge feature. Without it, you lose 1% charge PER DAY which is really bad for a relatively rarely-used light like the TK70. Whats an extra 10 min of runtime with the 12,000 mAh if it's half dead when you grab it a month later?

I'd recommend getting LSD batteries. Also, my accuevoluation batteries have worked fine in turbo WITHOUT the extender (using 3 batteries instead of 4), which is a nice feature to save some weight. (not sure if all NiMH can do this)

I will have to check that out if my batteries ever get here. Hope it will light up turbo on three but I do not know. LSD is a good idea though.

I don't know much about D (or non AA/AAA) NiMH but have to agree on LSD is often the better bet. Unless you charge your batteries say every 4 weeks the LSD could easily work out better. In the particular case of the Tenergy Premium non-LSD vs the Centura it would be interesting to see how they compare after 4 weeks or something of that sort.
