Find me a light!

Ok, here's what I want:

-A slimline single 18650 flashlight

-Any emitter, any driver (I'll probably swap them out...)

-Must have a pocket clip

-Smooth reflector would be nice

-Grey/silver/Stainless would be good too

Max price ~$40

Any thoughts?

eagletac d25lc2

slightly over your price

Yup, I think that's exactly what I was looking for! A clicky would be better so please keep suggestions coming in, but I think I'll be getting one of those! Thanks

Since you probably will rip it apart anyways, how about any of the UF2100 with a separate SF clip? I will mod mine with this driver. All in all under $27 for a 3-mode, no strobes, XM-L T6, clicky ( contrary to KD description), tailstands while remaining good switch accessibility, smooth reflector, stainless bezel without having overly sharp spikes. I am not super impressed with the threads quality, but so far it has held up nicely. A thread about this combination here.

+1 on the Shiningbeam S-mini XP-G

How is the clip mounting on the S-mini? It always looked a little slapped on and more like an afterthought to me.

Actually it's one of the better clip designs on any of my smaller lights. It's held to the light in two places instead of one and it's very solid. Unlike some of my other lights, this clip for me has about the perfect amount of tension. Not too hard to put in my pocket yet still enough to hold it securely.

+3 on the S-mini. I have it in XM-L and I would not do a thing to it, love it just like it is.

Thanks people - I've had another look at the s-mini, but I can't get over the ugliness of that pocket clip... The UF2100 (and anything else that fits that solarforce clip) is just that bit too chunky to fit in the pocket. I'm very tempted by the Eagletac, expensive as it is. So... at the same price as the eagletac ($60 rather than $40) what else should I consider?

Incidentally - the modes and output on the eagletac are pretty much what I'd want (actually I'd like moonlight>turbo and nothing else... The new KD drivers come closest)

You will be surprised at how the clip actually looks on the S-mini. You hardly even see it. The parts that attach to the light fit perfectly into the space just above and below the knurling. The clip is the same color as that part of the light and you will hardly notice it. My S-mini isn't as pretty as it was when I bought it. I use it a lot and it's starting to get nicked up some along with the clip. Doesn't really matter to me because it's such a great light.

The UF2100 is about 23mm in diameter and 120mm long, so not that much bigger than the other 2 lights that are mentioned here

@vectrex - useful link, thanks! And you're right, it's not that much bigger...

One little warning though there seem to be several versions of this light Ultrafire / Uniquefire/ Yezl ... I thought they were all the same but apparently there can be difference in threads/modes/bezels (mine is actually a Uniquefire 3 mode from DD). BLFer Buwuwe made a little review in German ... Here is the crude translation... brted also reviewed it, Manafonts has a different bezel and apparently the 3 mode can be converted into a 5 mode.

Ok, I went and bought the Eagletac (D25LC2). Expensive for this forum but very much worth it - the glass has an AR coating on the inside and a sapphire coating on the outside. Good mode spacing, very small light for the battery type. Turns out twisties are great in that size of light. I'm not going to post photos, there are plenty out there for the googling. I'll just say this: If I'd bought this first, there are at least three budget lights I wouldn't have bought.... However, it cost more than the three put together....!
