Still $12 is a pretty awesome price for a host and XM-L. Just an XM-L drop-in will usually set you back $14-16.
I have one 501B, a couple of 501A's and have had no problems with them. They just are not real attractive lights.
(my wife always rolls here eyes when I make a comment like that. Attractive? A Flashlight?)
You can regularly find 501b's and the X3 clone on ebay with XM-L T6 drop in's for under $10 with free shipping. Just throw a couple bids out there for around $9-$10 and you'll probably win one. $12 is still a great deal though, I don't think they are that ugly.
If you have the 501A or a manafont 501b host they sold last year you know what a trashy fake ultrafire 501b is ..real sharp front bezel... really cheap garbage feel . adonization like bad paint..
The ones i got off Dino direct were real and were a totally different animal ,,better everything except i still think the tailcap was a fake ..tail felt cheap .maybe alot of parts are made from other manufacturers ..heads tails and tubes from various vendors .i don't know ..but the 3 I have over here are better ...much better . are they old stock ?? they came with q5 single modes in them and r2 xpe

linkdelight is a shady operation. i tried to buy a 801 from there it was priced at 16.00. ended up having to paypal dispute them at day 44 and even though the light showed shipped back in december 9th, it never showed up. just sayin

Nearly every Chinese seller is shady, the bigger they are the worse it is.
Out of all the regular Chinese sites people buy on this forum, intl-outdoor seems to be the only "good" seller.
Everything I buy I know I am taking a risk, PayPal claims don't always go in the buyers favour.
