Undisputed Champ? Pound for Pound?

Undisputed: 90%+ consensus

Champ: Raw power & a reasonably low failure rate should be all that matter, though price should be proportionate to category (e.g. $45 is budget for a 2x18650, but not for 1xAA or 1xAAA).

**Champ (EDC): Feedback suggested a lighter weight division for EDC

Pound for pound: Most bang for your buck.

---

Champ:

  • 2x18650: M3X Clones starting @ $45 (DX), $45 (MF)
  • 1x18650: XinTD C8 starting @ $30

Champ (EDC):

  • 1x18650: UF-2100 starting @ $23

Pound for pound:

  • 1x18650: Super Tactics style starting @ $12.50
  • 1x14500: Sipik SK68 clones starting @ $6

Hopefully both lists should be longer than this, but I'll play it safe. The Crelant 7G5 seems to have edged the M3X in recent tests, but I don't think it has a decent budget version yet. The Super Tactics is probably the most controversial pick on here, but there's a loyal following on here and it'll throw a helluva beam for $12. An SK68 with a decent battery is the best $10 party trick this side of the Mississippi -- or is it!? Alright -- hopefully I'm missing something!!

Cree Q5 400lm?

250lm max

clm > lm.

cmAh > mAh.

:)

Still a nice thrower for that price.

+ 1

I've just ordered this one. I'm interested in comparing it to my Dongrui All-920 which is about the same price. BTW, has anyone actually disassembled this Super Tactics light and investigated the pill? Is it hollow? Does it need beefed up (so as not to burn up the emitter during longer runs)?

Hi there guys, 1. post! :) Been lurking :)

What about making some more defined categories, and also some extra details. I have added some lights to the list and divided it into classes.

Heavyweight :

2x18650: M3X Clones starting @ $45

Middleweight (Best suited for jacket pocket due to size of head or lenght):

-1x18650: Xin TD C8 - 29.95 (One of the best C8 XML lights, good driver every time so no lottery, can be bought with different modes and with neutral emitter)

-1x18650: Romisen RC-T601 - 28.75 (Quality C8 alternative to Xin TD, black finish, 2 modes but no low, 6% discount if you use this code "BLFuser" )

-1x18650: Super Tactics style starting @$12.50 -(Budget thrower)

Lightweight (could go in jeans):

- 1x18650: Ultrafire WF-501B - 13.99 (One of the cheapest XM-L lights, can be found on ebay too, maybe save a buck or four there?)

- 1x18650: Ultrafire Uf-2100 - 15.32 (small and cheap 18650 XM-L light)

Featherweight (small EDC lights):

-1x14500: Sipik SK68 clones starting @$6 ( probably the most popular budget flood to throw, takes AA aswell)

+1 on sipik 68 clones and the "Super Tactics style" thrower lights. I only own the sipik, but read great stuff about the thrower, and would have added it myself.

Not familiar with the M3X clone.

Maybe someone should add some multiple XM-L lights since they can be found in the 40-60$ range too.

I would also like to see some tiny good budget AAA, AA lights and 2xAA on this list. ;)

Do not know anything about the failure rate of the Xin TD. And I do not own one (yet?). But in my book that would be the champ. It is a middleweight, but can keep up with many heavy weight lights You can easily carry it in your jacket pocket. Or on a belt. Pretty cheap. A good combo of flood and throw. Budgetlight that you can get with decent modes (not all the blinky stuff), and with neutral emitter if you wish.

Wish I would have gotten my eyes on that light instead of buying Ultrafire C8 (clone?). Atleast mine was 10$ cheaper and black (and with good memory).

Welcome to BLF, RaceR86! Damn good first post. I have a lot of fun here and I hope you will too.

I have a 5-mode UniqueFire UF-2100 that I love. It has perfect memory, otherwise the 5-modes would be unbearable.

I also have a Romisen RC-T601, and it's really nice, but mine has 5 modes and lame memory. Lame memory and disco modes do not go together well.

I think the Tank007 E09 is a great 1xAAA flashlight, but I don't have one (yet).

I have one and absolutely love it! Great quality, great modes, and seriously impressive - my EDC. (And I only run mine on a AAA, not Li-Ion.)

UF-2100 @ $15.32 http://kaidomain.com/product/details.S020108

And for perfection 3mode in a 6/8 AMC7135 driver for less than $5

Heavyweight :

2x18650: M3X Clones starting @ $45

2x18650: Big heatsink good spot/corona @ $47.60

Interested to know about this as well. I have one All920 too, the actual beam looks similar to beamshot pictures from the UltraOK. And similarly priced as well.

I didn't open the pill of the UltraOk, all I can say is that it's aluminium with a pressed-in brass ring for soldering the driver to mass and weighs 12 gram assembled .

Thus evidently hollow.

On the other hand, my UltraOK is driven less hard than Garry's Dongrui, mine drawing about 1.7A. For my use, as a definite thrower, it doesn't need to stay on for more than a couple of minutes, but someone on this forum tested it at 15 min on High, no issue.

Thanks. Already have had much fun, and used way to much time here. So will probably keep on going "downhill". Its fun .. ;p

Thanks. Was about to ask if anyone knew of a cheaper and better UF-2100. Was searching for better alternatives. Ill edit my link and price in previous post. Seems to be the same model only cheaper from KD.

You/someone know if this light have a good memory function with stock driver? People here seem to be pleased with the Uniquefire versions. I have found one here that is under 18$. But u never know what u get.

I would like to recommend a place that have a version that takes advantage of the XM-L (2-3A). But not with a crappy "5-mode-I-will-always-use-next-mode-every-time-you-turn-me-on-MODE" ;) Do people here think UF-2100 from KD is the best UF-2100 buy if you are going to keep it stock? Seems to be the cheapest. :)

Just added the "Champ (EDC)" division & added the UF-2100 after several endorsements. Guess I better pick one up!

My older Uf-2100 draws over 3 amps and blows away my Zeno E03.

Also, mine is marked Uniquefire not Ultrafire. Check old threads here at BLF.

That ad at Kaidomain claims "Digital Regulated 1700mA Current Output"

That's no good then. Where'd you pick up the 3a 2100?

Mine came from DD about 3 months ago.

Search out the old threads and read them before ordering.

Update: added XinTD C8 to the champ section -- but it may be just a contender. I've seen this light vouched for a lot though, so I'll leave it there for now. Also, updated link for 2100.

For Uf-2100 3A-4A draw, It depends on internal resistent of 18650s

It's direct drive, This is my tested.

UF-2100 from DD
1xCGR18650CH 2250mA from intl-outdoor
Hi = 4030mA
Med = 1900mA
Low = 190mA

1x18650
Hi = 3490mA
Med = 1700mA
Low = 180mA

For M3X clone, if you prefer MF UniqueFire V2 $45
