Glue for Plastics?

Hi all i need someone to recommended me a glue for Plastics so I can fix my Car wing mirror back on with having to but another one for £245.

I think it's ABS plastic material.

Thanks for the help.

so you're joining plastic to plastic?

permatex and devcon have products called plastic weld and plastic welder. They're two part epoxies.

But, I think real welding is more durable.

Plastic welding is hard. At least doing it to an acceptable standard is. Speaking as someone who fouls it up every time.

Try a good epoxy (on scrupulously clean surfaces) first - preferably not one that "goes off" in two minutes. Make sure everything is held in place properly so it can't move while the epoxy hardens - preferably keep it in place away from rain for 24 hours before using it. And if it humid, wait for a dryer day to do it.

ABS can be a pain to sort though.

Cyanoacrylate glues (superglue) only work for me for gluing together wounds. They never work for anything other than flesh for me. Others have more success with them.

yes, it definitely is difficult to perform well.

I haven't had much luck w/ the (plastic) epoxies either.

Personally, I'd use one then reinforce the repair w/ some kind of brace/fasteners/jb weld

I need a epoxy. It's plastic to plastic.

Cannot use welder due to access.

Good old Devcon 5-minute Epoxy works best for me. If the pieces are large enough, drill matching holes in both where they mate and insert plastic, metal, or wood dowels, then epoxy it.

excellent advice! maybe rough the surface of some drill rod instead of dowels though
