What is this mythical/magical C8?

I keep seeing references to a C8 flashlight all over this forum and there is links to many different C8's, all the ****Fire variants, Sky Ray, Balder etc. I want to know what the C8 is, which C8 is THE C8 being referenced, lol.

C8 is the style of body..comes in all variants..ultrafire, trustfire, *fire, small sun, kaidomain has an unbranded body or 3..usually the kd C8 is "the" C8, but that was the original..now they have a few bodies at different prices and it's unclear which driver you get with which body etc..

Ah, ok, so it’s a form factor like P60 with drop ins etc. Makes more sense now

used to wonder about C8 myself...

below is from flashlight Wiki:

C8 - 1x18650 light with a large head for better throw. The pill screws into the throat of the light for better heat management. Available with many different LED's as well as a smooth or OP reflector. The C8 with XM-L from KaiDomain has especially good reviews.

bose 301's? Almost opted for 901's but ended up with HPM 150's. LOL

yep just like p60 form factor..you even see C8 variants like the romisen t-601..C8 is just 1 18650 body with a larger head than a p60..

I just wanted to comment on a C8-style purchase that (finally) came in the mail today, the XIN TD from Intl-Outdoor.com

If you don't yet own a C8 style light (or even if you do) there is no better bargain light than the XIN-TD. Everything about it is impressive, and at $30 it is as nice as lights twice its price, and worth the add'l cost of a cheap C8

I got the neutral tint and it is a GORGEOUS beam, a bit warm, which I wanted, and still throws as well as my KD C8 that is a cool white. Usually cool white beams appear brighter, but the XID is a great thrower, with a nice bright corona as well.

Finish is a beautiful gray, threads are clean, no grit, and nicely lubed. The driver is obviously better quality than most Chinese lights and mine has NO blinkies. It is a PERFECT C8 light, the kind of torch I would expect to see on Shiningbeam's site. Best 'budget' quality I have seen in a Chinese flashlight.

The only thing about this light that concerns me is the spring on the driver; I hope it is soldered in well, it's a pretty large spring. But the tailpiece lug is attached with a spring as well, so hopefully the battery does not put too much pressure on the driver spring.

Even the lanyard that came with the light is of better quality than I've seen before and matches the finish on the light. Emitter is centered just right, SMO reflector creates a nice tight hot spot.

I wish it had not taken so long to get here, but it was worth the wait. This is seriously the finest light under $32 that I have ever purchased. Can you tell I'm excited about it????

So . . . another Xin lover. Nice to know I'm not the only one.

Yeah, I would say it is easily as nice or nicer than a Fenix, and I love the finish on it. Foy, didja get the neutral white one? I'm sort of migrating to warmer tints rather than the cool-whites with their glare.

As I noted in another thread, mine is pulling 2.75A on High with HiMax 2600 batteries. To me, that's about perfect. I don't like to drive XM-L's over 3A because of heat and reliability issues, and my old eyes can't tell the difference in .5A anyways.

Got the cool white. I actually like the tint but I'm sure I would have liked NW better.

Post #6 has the official ghetto-fire C8:

I have a CW on the way too. I hope I like it.
