Drop-in for G2

Greetings all!

I have a few SureFire G2's that I have in my cars with 2 123 batteries in them. They still have the incandescent bulbs in them. These are the all plastic lights.

I would like to replace the bulbs with a low-to-mid bright, long lasting, more floody beam drop-in. I am not looking for a thrower, think more for changing tires, looking under the hood, etc. I want to stay with the 2 123's for the long storage ability.

Thanks!

This one has been getting a lot of attention lately.

Don't use too powerful drop-ins in a Surefire G2. Even the metal bezel of the LED-version won't transfer enough heat. A simple XP-G drop-in should be fine.

I realize the heat in a G2 would not be good. I was looking at these 2.

I would recommend the XP-G over the XR-E. More light, less heat and much more floody.

If you are looking for flood the XML will give the most flood and work the best with 2 CR123s.

Solarforce recommends all 3 of these drop ins for the G2 and you don't have to use the high mode on the XML if you don't want to, but having the option of 800 lumen when broken down on the side of the road is a definite plus.

I really need to buy this one and find out for sure the amperage draw. Assuming it's 2 amps on high around 800 lumens and 1 amp on medium you still get 500 lumens on medium and high can be a turbo mode if you are afraid of the heat. To me this would be a perfect two Cr123s car light.
