I'm looking for a Zoomie Flood to Throw - Glass Lens - 3AAA or 26650

Anyone know of any Zooming lights with a real glass aspheric lens??? in 3AAA or 26500 (which will fit 3AAA)

I don’t know of any zoom lights with glass lenses. I’ve actually had better luck with plastic (aspheric) lenses.

Don't know if this is a true aspheric lens, and one of the 'reviewers' claims that it's plastic. Might be worth checking it out

Me too.

Bought two glass lenses from LighTake to possibly upgrade my Small Sun ZY-C10-S and they are total garbage, while the stock plastic one is fine (could be slightly bigger, though).

Me too, I think I have lost my patiente testing glass lenses, 99.9% of them are rubbish, while you got more possibilities to find good ones in plastic, don't tell me why but that is my experience with them.

I also checked some of them from lightake, the +-44mm ones for another zooming I've got and they are really really bad ones.

agedbriar, keep the plastic lens from the small sun, that is a good lens, I have tested a pair of them, and are the best with 38mm diameter by far.

I tested also this one from CNQG and it is not even close to that one:

What I am not sure is about this one, it might be the same that the small sun has, so it might be a good buy:

By the way, I have got a really cheap 26650/3AAA zooming on the way from manafont:

the only light zoomies i've seen that are >18650 and also take AAA are the latest from DX and the keygos m12 (ebay). For the latter you'd need to buy a AAA carrier and (length) spacer.

they have a plastic lenses though. Aside from scratching easier, they work well.

edit: yavi beat me to it and after reading his post I realized there are other 26650/AAA but my mind automatically ignores FTT lights that taper DOWN and the business end

My intention is to adapt the yezl t9 head or another one I've got with same lens diameter (38mm) on that one with a 38mm lens that is the best I can think of on a flood to throw light with a good runtime, compact enough and throwing a good distance while having a nice flood.

good idea. i've tried to lego all my zoomies. nothing fits (w/o modding). Eventually I"ll find a zoomie that I can stick the HF 109 led head on w/ 75mm aspheric :)

I believe the X2000 is plastic as the one poster explained.

I figured that somewhere there would be a zoomie with a good glass lens, but I see there isn't one. Too bad, I always scratch plastic lenses the very first day, so I pass on plastic. Used to mold plastic for 26 years, terrible stuff.

I guess the Deft lens is the only option, just don't want to spend the $15 for one, but the one I had, was perfect!

In my head, it should need a longer pill flush with the body to extend the focal lenght, and probably cutting the head butt to fit the tube diameter, as I am really in love with this concept, I will ask a friend if he could machine it with his lathe, I will let you know what can be done as soon as I see it :)

The DEFT lens is the best budget molded lens I've seen yet.

What diameter do you need ? (min/max)

It depends on the light. That JobSmart light I did was just under 28mm ID in the head (P60 I guess) and the deft lens fit right in. I had to open up the front of the bezel, since the original plastic lens was 27.something mm OD, but the aspheric itself was like 25mm. It worked good and with the XM-L, it was really a nice light, but the (throw - die square) was way too big. Probably a combination of the XM-L and the Deft lens.

I just wanted to do a couple more, since the guys at work all fell over themselves when they saw the light, but the JobSmart lights are all gone already at TS and the Chinese lights I see are either too much, or just plain too cheap quality wise.

I sure don't want to buy a $20 light, a $15 lensd and an XM-L and sell it for $35-40, or try to sell one with a plastic lens, so it's another one of those wish I had kind of things, when I really look at it.

In other words, another one off, but not for production. Tongue Out

If it has to bee a good buid, maybe the trustfire z6 would suit your colleagues needs.

It has a 28mm lens with 26 effective diameter, I don't know wich glass lens would do with the same focal lenght.

DX sells glass aspheric lenses that are approximately 28mm diameter but they generally require a little “fitting” for most P60 hosts.
I’ve read that lately the lenses are garbage as well.
Regarding plastic scratching easily I get that but if you can fashion a bezel that extends beyond the lens it’s much less likely that they will be scratched.
I actually used both the lens and bezel from the Smallsun zoom and epoxied it to a Aurora 18650 host. It’s just barely larger than a P60 and it has a screw-in pills. It even comes with a XR-E R2 one mode. I get about 33k cd with it.

As gcbryan has noted, the budget lenses -even glass- from DX are at best a crapshoot.

In that diameter (~28mm) the DEFT lens is the best offering, period. The short focal length maximizes lumen output in the smaller lights.

You might check out shiningbeam.com at their Romisen lights they modify. There are several with XR-E R2 bins that are probably driven pretty well. Theyve got AA/14500, 3xAAA, 2xCR123, 18650 options available.

Oh crap, Ima gonna get Banned for trying to help people out with links aren't I? Oh wait...wrong forum. nm.

Yep, your Banned!Tongue Out
