These are a BLAST !

Stainless is a beautiful material. Strong, shiny......and sometimes a bit boring.

After a tour in the blast cabinet, treated with a few round of pure garnet beads, these are the results.

Top to bottom, we have the DQG mini AAA, Mini AA, and the CQG S2 AA.

The DQG mini AAA is stock, for reference:

The S2 AA was masked off with green tape:

The DQG Mini AA came out a bit lighter than shown in this pic, almost a titanium hue.

The "X" modded tail, a small touch of vanity :

Thanks for looking !

These are my first attempts at bead-blasting, so any comments/tips are welcome.

That is very interesting, Chicago X! Looks like a fun new toy. Love the look of the DQG Mini - poor man's ti.

When will your machine shop open full time? You will need a grumpy old fart apprentice for comic relief.Tongue Out

Looks like you got it figured out pretty well.

nice job!

blasters are fun, and once you own one, indispensable...

I use a lot of this

at lower pressures it can give you a hint of a sparkling type effect (as opposed to smooth/satin). Unfortunately, that finish does tend to pick up more dirt. At high pressure that abrasive removes stuff fast, including aluminum. They have 20/40 and 60/80 at my local store.

works well in a tumbler, too.

I'll check that media out, thanks !

I'm using Black Bull Garnet 80 grit - at 75 psi it barely takes off ano. :) I have some Black Bull Glass Beads that haven't been opened yet.

I'm off to dismantle some Sanrenmus....

Thanks much ! It really does look like Ti now. The S2 AA's blasted areas are also very Preon-ish.

Nice work X

Very nice:)

Very nice! I like that look, ChicagoX. I bet it would make a polished smooth stainless light a little more "grippy" as well...

Thanks, and it does. :)

I took the Ano off the Mini mag head as an experiment since it has a 2 amp XML in it. It heats up much faster than the one with Ano so the Ano was holding the heat in preventing it from getting out to the air. Just an idea if you are playing around with the blaster.

Very nice work.

Post more pics, plz! :)
