NEW-C56 XM-L T6 5-Mode Zoom

found these on DX:

$16.50 NEW-C56 forward clicky
$17.80 NEW-C56A reverse clicky, incl. battery

i keep searching for xm-l zoomers but really don't know if this is the way to go ;)

what do you guys think?

i modded my c55 to xml

https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/6715

i love it, use it daily, it lives in my jacket

but...there are much better xm-l zoomies. z6 and m12 both benefit from the larger lens and have MUCH better heatsinking. there's a yezl that's cheaper than both of those that a lot of guys like - i think it probably performs as well but I think its ugly

if they didn't modify the way the pill is constructed (vs the c55), you'll have to mod it to run over maybe an amp and still have any kind of emitter life

nice to hear you like it.
since this C56 looks the same as the C55 just with xm-l and a new driver (2.5A) there is a chance they could do well.

btw. love your mod!

thanks. if they used the same pill, it is a pretty easy mod, assuming you have a file and drill.

if you're looking for throw, its not great, but I mostly use it in flood mode. It is a pretty hefty host for the size and I don't think anything else in that size has fins...

Did you happen to get a measurement of the driver? I ordered one of these but absolutely cannot stand strobe function. Is it 17mm?

It's the same story again: i see a light i think i would like and then i find (or someone tells me) another light that seems to be just overall better/nicer but of course cost a little bit more 8)

dthrckt i read your review on the TF Z6 and it really seems to fit my desires.

I've seen it on ebay for 25$ without any batteries plus 10$ for a pair of gold Trustfire 18650 = 35$ for a really nice light.
or $17.80 for the NEW-C56A reverse clicky, incl. cheap noname battery? :Sp

I think i'll read some more
and wait for a review of these orange-bezel Romisen xm-l clones

the z6 is very nice, and I bet the romisen clone is nice for the price.

the size of the c56 is much better for edc, I don't think i'd carry either of the others in a pants pocket unless I was camping/fishing. so, it depends on what you're looking for...

yes, the stock pill accepts 17mm, and a 1/2" copper cap does w/ a little effort :)

I'm not planing on EDC'ing it for that i have my XENO E03 and a cheap Q3 zoomer.

I'm looking for a somewhat bigger (18650) light that has more light and zoom for night activities (geocaching/night caches)

then z6 is easily worth the few dollars over c56

Sweet. In regards to your other recommendations you have been making in this thread, aren't they significantly longer? This light is under 5 inches, so it's the smallest of the bunch... right?
