identify an unknown light /identified: OTR X5 clone

Can anyone identify this clone? I won one for $23, not bad I think.

Im sure, earlier I have seen this form somewhere. I can not find it.

It's a heavy cloned design and you can get from poor quality to pretty good quality.

Loongsun LX-9011(with various LEDs) seems to be the base, but there are others that re-brand it along with On The Road X5

ahh, thanks, On The Road X5, now I remember

I'm curious what will I get. But for this price it will not be an extra class I think, but who knows?

Not a bad looking light for the $$...

Looks like the pill+reflector assembly screws into the base, you'll get far better thermal management than a spring floating pill design.

Good luck with the rest of the transaction, and post back when you get it.

Now, I'm a little nervous.

Some lights have been sold for $17-20.

The original manufacturer is Loongsun with the model LX-9011. OTR just re-brands them at a higher quality than most.

Loongsun might not even manufacture all of the 'X5' clones. OTR is confirmed though. After all, they also make N-light ST-50 and ST-30 clones and N-light supposedly manufactures all of their own lights.

Considering the time and effort Loongsun puts into their product, I wonder if all of the 'X5' clones actually come from them. I've chatted with their manager and they spend a lot of time testing samples to make sure they meet standards. That applies to all lights, regardless of brand. I'm just not thrilled with most of their designs.

here are some photos, the name of the light: Ultrafire X5:

left ultrafire D1, right ultrafire X5

It's a budget light, with some minor problems, like some little dents on the body, rattle glass lens, dry threads, press fit driver. The driver isn't so powerful, tailcap current is only 1.1-1.2A, and no memory. When you switch off the light, it will be back on high after some minutes ( I reduced the time to some seconds adding an extra resistor to the driver).

But it's a thrower, it can 30-31k lux with the stock driver, with a little modification on the driver almost 40k lux!

In the range of 20$, it's okay. If you have some experience, it can be solved most of minor problems, and you can make a powerful thrower.

here is the modified driver, now the tailcap current is 1.5A:

good price. how's the tint vs the D1?

hmm, similar as I see, there is not so much difference, but not so cold as my UF X8

X5, D1, X8

a comparison, mouse out UF X5, mouse over UF X8

thanks.

I wouldn't have guessed the D1 would look warmest! I poofed the original in mine so its u2 1a now.

funny how outdoors, in real use, it is much harder to see the difference...

omg, I won another one for $18...
