Light for my Birthday - Suggestions welcome!

My Birthday is coming up in a little less than a month. I have just about every type of flashlight... flooder, thrower, EDC, HID, etc. I guess I'm looking for something around $100, I normally don't spend that much on lights, but hey - it's my Birthday LoL.

I was thinking maybe a TK41. Maybe a Skyray King? I'm not really sure. I was hoping people could make suggestions on what they think is a MUST HAVE light around $100 or so. I have no battery preference or anything like that, just looking for suggestions for a light that's a little pricier than what I would normally spend on a light :)

Purchase links for any suggestions are also much appreciated!

what might you use it for - ie, you have the usual roles filled, but when do you need a really good light (camping, geocaching, strip clubs, etc.)

How about a list of what you have already so we can get some kind of idea what you like.

What would be a good stripclub light?

Easy to hide...Laughing

I would suggest King NW, especially if you don't have any 3 x XM-Ls.

Rest of the money you can use for four good cells, for example XTAR 18700s.

Unfortunately I don't "need" a light LoL, I just can't think of anything else I'd rather have in the $100 price range than a light as a gift.

What I already have... ok here goes.

Maglite 4D P7 (Black)

Maglite 4D XM-L (Black)

Maglite 2D Stock (Silver)

Maglite 2D XM-L Aspheric - Custom Body (Grey)

Maglite 2AA - XP-G (P60 Drop-ins)

TrustFire TR-3T6 Triple - XM-L

UltraFire KF-T60 - XM-L

UltraFire C3 Stainless Steel - Q5

Aurora SH-034 Stainless Steel - R2

X2000 P4 Zoomie

Sipik SK68 Zoomie

UltraFire WF-501A - R2

UltraFire WF-503B Stainless Steel - XM-L

UltraFire WF-502B - R5

Tank007 E09 - R2

UltraOK Ebay Mini Thrower - Q5

Professional's Favorite Halogen - Modded to 55W HID

Wagan Halogen Spotlight - Modded to 75W HID

If I had a $100 to spend on one light, I would consider a Fenix TK41. Shop around and you can probably find it for right at that price point.

I had a friend come and stay with us the other night. I was showing him all my lights and letting him handle and test them all out. He was amazed at how bright some of these lights were and how far they throw. He kept coming back to my TK41. Couldn't keep his hands off it. It's still my favorite light and the one I would keep if I could only keep one.

the picture, lol

but 'easy to hide'

^^^ Well now you just got me curious... Not safe for BLF?

Ha ! Beat you to it , Foy .

I'd think the King and four good 18650s would complement that lot nicely. I like mine a lot.

OK it is overkill for just about everything but it is fun. It ought to do about an hour on high though it will be far too hot to touch by then. By that point I'd be worried about the cells going kaboom.

But it is shorter than many of my lights that will do 200 lumens which it does on low and ought to be able to keep it up for ten or so hours.

Maybe a Solarfore Masterpiece? Or a tricked out P60 light with a nice XM-L in it. Something like a Solarforce Gladiator if that appeals to you with a nice dropin.

So am I not getting any "must have" recommendations because of the price point? Let's assume there is no price point. I'll take any recommendations for your FAVORITE light.

I started the thread only being able to think of either the King, or a TK41, but I'm open to anything that someone really wants to recommend. Does anyone have a favorite light that they think everyone here should own 1 of?

I didn't like the looks of the Gladiator. I'm not sure I'd get much use of out that, and if I did, I'd probably need to get a lawyer involved afterwards LoL.

Jack, do you have a solarforce you want to recommend?

I can get the TK41 for $102 shipped. I have 8 eneloops for it (worth about $20 I guess). If I got the King, I only have TrustFire flames, they should work fine I would think since each battery pulls less than 3 amps. I guess if I have to pick between the 2, I would just get the TK41 since it's less likely to explode and it takes eneloops.

I was really hoping someone would be all amped up about a particular light (tell me all about why I need it), which would make me want to buy one.

No more Maglites and no more P60 drop-ins :)

I have too many of those already!

I really like the UF-T50.

It also leaves you holding $60 with which to tip the entertainment.

But then, you have most things covered when it comes to lights. But why no head lights?

If I had a 100USD to spend I'd look into some seriously lovely headlights. Just sayin.... :-)

Any Zebralight - can't recommend those enough.

Or a Spark - the ST460NW or the ST500 are within budget.

I'm using TF flames in my King. Work fine.

I don't own four better 18650s and I'm not about to mix cells in it.

Ok, here is the list then...

I don't think there are any of those that you would regret buying. I don't own the Fenix or the Masterpiece but both come very well recommended. If I had to pick on it'd be the Ultrafire or a Zebralight. As I've said here rather more than once, the Zebralight H50 is the best light (for my needs) that I've ever bought. It is not now available but its successors are very well worthwhile.

If you ever need more light and both hands free - you need a headlamp. If it is going to be close up you don't need a lot of output - look at the AA Zebralights or the Ultrafire UF-H2. The Ultrafire is half the price of the Zebralights. Spend the rest on cells/chargers for your choice of power supply. But the Zebralight is worth the extra IMO.

If you need more output or throw from a headlamp - like walking dogs in the dark - then take a very close look at the Spark lights.

Combo: Get the H2 (or H3 but it is very picky about cell length) and the T50 and some cells for both.

Force me to a single recommendation and I couldn't do it.

My three choices would be:

An Ultrafire (H2/H3/H4) headlamp and the T50

or

The King

or

TK41

None of those will disappoint. I don't own the TK41 but have the others.
