I was posting today and stumbled on some hidden smileys in the BLF system, different than those in the Smiley-menu box. These smileys can be added by using the referenced characters followed by a closed parenthesis.
h) - "h" - Learned/graduate smiley
j) - "j" - Evil/Crazed smiley
s) - "s" - Drunk smiley
8) - "8" - Cool/Dark sunglasses smiley
0) - "0" - Angelic/Halo smiley
$) - "$" - Dollar-signs-in-eyes/Happy smiley
;) - ";" - Wink smiley
:) - ":" - Normal smiley
:D - "D" - Big Smile
These last two are made with an open parenthesis instead to make a frowny, and both result in the same image being displayed.
\( - "\" Angry/Red-in-Face frowny
|( - "|" Angry/Red-in-Face frowny
Are there any I have missed?
<Edit>
Okay, here's a couple more that were contributed below; these can be inserted by placing the referenced word between colons:
:Davie: - "Davie" - Who is this guy?!?
:exmark: - "exmark" - Nice exclamation mark!
And here's more...
These are created by using a colon followed by the referenced character:
:p - "p"
:O - "O"
:| - "|"
:( - "("
:~ - "~"
:X - "X"
:* - "*"
:Sp - "Sp"
These are created by using the referenced word between colons:
Ohh! I've got a few of those by accident before, and I just assumed it was a fault with my ancient hand-me-down computer! Thanks for posting! .) > Well, that last one doesn't work for me. Was supposed to be 'normal smiley'.
Ya, like I would have ever been able to figure that out on my own. I am now a bit curious about what all the other "blue" words are and/or do. Plus, what the heck is all this other stuff for... like the anchor, binoculars, etc.? Posting shouldn't be more complicated than charging an 18650 battery, which, btw, I can't/won't do due to the complexity.
I meant to ask the admin if it's possible to add more smiley's. Just more basic style and certainly not outrageous animated ones that only become too much of a distraction. Emoticons do help in conveying emotion, attitude and sentiment. One of my favorites has always been the 'thumbs up' emoticon that was common in forums I posted in years ago. It just worked.
