Howdy All. I have a SF 9P that I bought circa 1996. I have a Solarforce FWD clicky on order. Currently, I'm using a generic LED w/ OP reflector and probably a Cree XPG R5 emitter. It's not floody at all despite the OP; quite a thrower. I've been google searching and trying to find a bright (300 lumens or more) LED or even Incan lamp that can handle 3 AW IMR 16340s (12.6 fresh voltage), be very floody, and say under $30 USD or so. Does a critter exist? I'm grateful for any direction and/or links... :-)
Of course those options exist :)
solarforce-sales.com - 320lm XP-G, LOP reflector
solarforce-sales.com - 320lm XP-G, SMO reflector
For XM-L, I couldn't find any pre-made options, but if you are willing to replace driver, there are a lot of options available.
The KD single mode P60 drop-in should be about what you are after
Pair this with an OP reflector and you have a big wall of flood.
Just don't hope for it to be 1300 lm, 800-900lm OTF is more like it (if driven at 2.5 - 3A)
here is the OP version

and I agree 1300 is more than slightly optimistic.
Thank you all so much. Wiljen, I think you hit the nail on the head. I'll be getting this one!!! -JB

Use with two rechargeable 17500 lithium batteries
since you've already made a decision, and I would've suggested one of the Solarforce options anyway, I'll just say welcome to BLF and that I loved your cartoon.
That's a perfect drop in for what you want. It pulls around 2-2.5 amps so about 500 floody lumens and it won't overheat.
