I happened to be in HD today and these were marked for $3.95. I couldn't resist. These have 6AAA batts included. 9 led - 6 white, two red, one green. The side switch clicks thru 4 modes. White, Red, Green, Ref Flashing.
For $3.95 I don't know how they sell them that cheap. All Aluminum, fit and finish is good, switches feel very solid. Not real bright, but with fresh batts, easily good enough for an emergency.

You paid too much.. I got a pair last month for $3.50. Like you I couldn't resist, in fact I walked by them 3 times before i succumbed. Please excuse my "tease" but those are the very words I hear every time I alert a friend in Missouri about a deal in HD or Lowes. He is in the military and always gets an additional 10%.
My favorite flashlight deal at HD though was the 2D Maglite LED for 14.88 with 2 Duracells last Christmas. It was at that time that I realized that LED lights had progressed from these cheap 9 LED type. Ultimately I ended up finding BLF.
BTW, some people here may laugh at these 10-20 lumen lights, but they come in handy, We have them scattered all over the house, always at arms length.
I guess it's time to pay Home Depot a visit.
