BLF Problems

Aloha!  Over the past couple weeks or so I've been having problems with BLF loading super slow and have noticed that a few other members have had the same problems.  It only happens when on BLF and not on any other website.

Last night something else started happening and is continuing today.  Other than the slow loading, I also get this:

Does this happen to anyone else?

yep, it's either slow, filled with mysql errors, or not reachable at all.

Yeah, I've been getting that Drupal 'site offline' message 3 0r 4 times a week now for a couple of months. 'Down' time varies from seconds to hours, though it's seldom more than 10-15 minutes or so. Can't say it's been worse lately, but it does seem as though a few more users are seeing the same problem.

Thanks guys!  Sad to see that many others are affected but at the same time -- I'm glad that it's not just me.  Maybe Mr. Admin has to do a bit of tweaking because BLF has more members now and has more traffic than ever before.

In my experience, BLF goes down even when there is very little traffic on the site.  Luckily it doesn't usually go down for very long, but it's still annoying when it does.

It happens to me too, but I don't think it is the increased traffic here, but, rather, hackers from the other place.  Well, I'm pretty sure it is Greta's fault.

Me to not so much slow but I get the error message and I no longer get emails for my PMs which was a really nice feature.

I am already visualizing the duct tape over your mouth.

I get this appear after nearly every post I make.

Doesn't appear to interrupt with normal activity though.

It's been real slow and the Drupal fail happens usually once a day for me.  Something is definitely wrong.

FYI don"t knpw if it is connected but I have Ghostery  (firefox add on) that tells me there is a "tracker" on this page. The other forum shows no tracker. Also I do not think anyone involved with this site is tracking. Ghostery blocks these trackers and I am not really having issues. Hmmm. IDK Outside tracker maybe?

Hi guys,

Thanks for reporting this. Basically the issue has to do with the shared mySQL server being throttled. I can setup a local mySQL server that won't have this limitation, but it's a rather involved process and I've been putting it off. I hope to get to it soon.

As for the repeated error message after posting, it's fixed now.

The thing about "tracking" has absolutely nothing to do with tracking or spying on users, although now that you mention it I see that it's definitely a misnomer. It's just a Drupal term for the mechanism of seeing which posts are current and which user made them.

Thanks to all our loyal users who are bringing the site down. ;) I'll work on it soon.

Take care, have fun.
