Tell me your thoughts. For the money, it don't look bad. Now I know it's not going to be 2000 lumens. But even if it's 1200 it still a nice light for the price I would think.
It's cheaper above, but he also has this link.
3x R5 emitters... You can get a 5x Q5 TR-1200 for about the same price... Probably just as bright (or brighter) but throwier...
I would hold out on a deal for a XM-L triple.
(Edit...)Here's the same light on DX:

I already have a couple of the Trustfire 5x Q5 lights. I like them. I was just curious on this one.
Then I would just get the 6X XP-G drop-in from DX and upgrade one of the hosts you already have......
I try and avoid lights with spring "floating" drop in modules, because they entrap heat when running the HI current output modes. From what I have seen, there are enough screw-in thermal conducting designs available for me to gravitate towards those first. But thats just me. For lower current, long running designs I think they are fine.
I'd pass on it. First it's a "Fry"ray with the bad drop-in style (not threaded) and even though it's not XM-L, an XP-G still get really hot when driven hard enough to put out more than 400 lumens. Second, for $32 I'd scrape up a few more $ and get a TR-3T6 on sale somewhere for under $40.
You really won't gain much throw with the XP-G since it's the XR-E emitters that focus the light farther. An XP-G will put out a hotspot as bright as an XM-L but at less than half it's size. It won't throw any further and has only half the output potential of a well driven XM-L. I'd really be surprised if that light was driven well enough to get 1000 lumens from the 3 XP-G LEDs.
Just my $0.02
ILF, that's a good price. If you're curious about it, why not?
