AAA light that puts out more light

Hello everyone. I am finding that I need more and more light. Here is an example.....(many of you know that I am visually impaired), when walking from bright sunlight into the shed today I could not see well. I was looking for clear trash bags for my mother, so I pulled out my Fenix LD01 that I bought of Craigzlist 2 years ago. It is just not bright enough. I carry it in the stock pouch that came with my Leatherman Wave multitool that I got for my birthday. It fits nicely in the outside pocket. I need something brighter so I can see when going from a bright to dim situation.....then cut the light back as my eyes slowly adjust. What is out there that I can use?

Can you go to a 2 AAA light like a penlight with a clip? The Pelican 1920 is a solid lit for $22 shipped and has good runtime and is pretty bright. I carry mine clipped to my front pocket like a knife would sit. Dont even notice it.

fenix ld01 illuminates brighter than any other cheaper AAA light because of its deep reflector. 50m throw!!

typically i use 10440's in my itp a3, fenix ld01 and tank e09. over 200 lumens OTF guaranteed!!

I'm thinking Xeno E03 with 14500...400+ lumen when needed.

There's no real Low-Low, but that shouldn't be an issue for you.

So can the Fenix LD01 run on a 4.2v cell or will it get fried? I have the charger, I would just have to buy the batteries for it. I have a 1.2V Duraloop in it right now.

you herewith have my word (well.. i am not considered trustworthy afaik haha) that the Fenix LD01 will not get fried by a 4.2V cell, see also:

can you read the title:

Oops...I didn't see the "AAA" request - sorry.

Switch to the R5A3 I sent you for your EDC that should do the trick.

I like that light a lot. :) Thanks for the light.

I have an olight i3, its very bright in the high mode. Build quality is excellent. The clip is VERY sturdy, the color of the finish is nice and even and clean, its an excellent little light.

I bought mine on Ebay for around 20$, but its well worth it.

High is about 70lumens for 42min.

The LD01 should not be fried by a 4.2v 10440. But that is only confirmed long-term with the older PWM based drivers, XP-G R4 versions with current control are less safe. If the light uses PWM however all modes should be retained and it should be safe to use, the LD01 has a decent amount of thermal mass for a AAA light too so if you need more light, I say go for it! :)

true.

@s1mp13m4n

so which LD01 version you got?

The tank e09 with 10440 or the itp A3 with 10440 puts a lot of light

They are the ones I have which puts out a lot of light with 10440

I'm glad to see that the iTP A3 will take a 10440. Must that battery be unprotected or will protected batteries work with it. I understand that the Tank will not.

PS In my case I find the LD01 brighter than the iTP A3. Accordingly, the Olight would not work for more light unless it will also take a 10440.

Thanks, Jerry

itp is shorter than e09. protected ones do not fit.

Thanks.

E09 is pretty bright even with a NiMH battery. old4570 estimates 143 lumens. That's about the best performance you will get from a AAA battery.

The Lighthound XPG R5 single AAA is the brightest I've ever seen...

It's 25 bones, but ~250 lm with a 10440 (and around 125 lm w/ an alkaline)
