Boring bar

Hey guys I'm looking for some info if there is some machinest here

I have this here Item #:300435914635 on eBay

And I'm looking for a boring bar with inserts to cut aluminum

Lile a KENNAMETAL boring bar any help finding me one that will work with that tool post holder and will cut aluminum :)

Looking at the eBay item it would appear that you can go with either 5/8" or 3/4" diameter boring bars. You should be able to easily find boring bars that will fit that holder. Keep in mind that the larger diameter boring bars are stiffer, but, cannot be used in smaller applications while the thinner bars work in thinner applications, but, are more prone to flex. The boring bar that I'm using is only 3/8" X 5" and it works fine for most of my needs, flex notwithstanding.

Well, if nobody else is going to say it . . . if it's so damn boring why don't you buy a round for everybody?

You probably could have used a small brake hone to do that. Just make sure you have a constant flow of water through the light using this method to wash out the ground aluminum.

Ya, it works. I would give my left ___ (it’s not being used any more anyhow, just hanging aroundFrown), for a lathe, after boring out several Maglites with either of those methods!

ebay boring bars Shouldn't one of these work? Is it a special cutter for Aluminum or is it just the speed of the cut?

What's the minimum diameter hole on which you will use this?

As PCC stated, that makes a difference.

It differs if he is running the lathe right- or left-handed, type of insert, and material speed.

Some of those are the old-school solid carbide bars, with no replaceable insert. I chose to work with inserts as a newbie, as I don't have the skillset to grind my own tooling....

Did some research on the web and found this

And

So i hope they work out well

I can't be everywhere all the time, you know.
