Host for 65mm aspheric

Hi folks, I dismantled a projector and found a lovely AR coated 65mm dia aspheric lurking inside. Can any of you suggest a host that will fit this lens with the minimum of fuss?
Been lurking here for weeks…I like what I see:)
Cheers in advance,
Woody

do you know the focal length?

The image is at it’s sharpest when the flat side of the lens is about 25-30mm from the top of the xpg lens.

WOW, that's a really short focal length for a lens that big!

I can't think of any traditional (aluminum) budget lights that will fit in (focal length would need to be about double).

The lens was from a Mintola tv wall projector, and used (I think) a hid as it’s light source. The curved face of the aspheric was facing the light source, almost touching the lamp.
Eleven more in the skip at work…guess what I will be doing tomorrow!

Welcome to BLF, Hopback! Let us know if you get the host figured out. :)

It's good to have you here, Hopback.

I have a plastic host that could use a lens about that size. 9 (crappy) leds, available at some home depots for $10. It'd take some crafting to mount a single led in it though.

That's also about the size of a stanley led spotlight lens, but as much as I like aspherics, it'd be a shame to ditch the stanley reflector and you'd still have to modify the led mouting location (move it forward).

Will you be selling any of the lenses?

Ran into a bit of a problem with harvesting the aspherics yesterday, managed to get three more (4 in total) before site security took an interest. Turns out they were not too pleased that I was “stealing” company property, even though the projectors were u/s and in the waste skip!
Had to send email to Engineering Big Cheese requesting permission to remove items from site, but doubt I will get reply before skip is removed from site as it is rather full.
The lenses I have are all in different conditions; all have a slight film of heat treated dust on them ( can be removed with gentle persuasion) but the AR coating seems to be a bit patchy on some of them, guess it’s just an age thing as in the past twelve years they have seen many hours of use. As a result I won’t be “selling” them, but if anyone is interested
maybe a couple will be available for the cost of shipping.
Sorry for the ramblings, will post beamshots etc when I can.
Cheers for the welcome!
EDIT. All the paragraphs have merged, sorry
