4S battery holder from eBay

I was looking up a holder to charge 18650s with my Accucell charger and came across this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-x-1S4P-3-7V-18650-Holder-Battery-Build-in-PCM-Protection-Circuit-Module-/180851498303?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item2a1b96dd3f#ht_3101wt_1008

Does anyone have any input on them? Do you think it balance charges? Any other suggestions?

How about the parallel version of the same one? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1X-Battery-Holder-Case-18650-battery-PCM-1S4P-/270756705035?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3f0a5b730b#ht_2997wt_944

Thanks for any info!

The serial version isn't ideal for charging Li-ion. The parralel version is fine as long as your cells are close in voltage.

Thanks burro. Question is: how do people charge the 4S ones if they seal it up as a batt pack? when there isnt any balancing.

The protection works on the 1S3P, 3S1P's ive tested, They do not ballance charge. The one you have linked is wired in parrallel. They only suit unprotected cells like the panisonic NCR18650A's. Only put cell,s in there with the same voltage. I like the series holders.

i tried using magnets and parallel charging but they did not charge up properly so i m guessing the magnets were not in good contact. thats why im thinking of getting the holders.

Benckie: I remember you said that series charging is better than parallel. Is it easy to modify the 4S holder with balance charge leads? Or can I just use the 4P battery holder?

Well the ones like you listed you can buy them in series and in parrallel but will only fit unprotected cells, the ones made in series can be made to be used for balance charging with a bit of stuffing around but you can only fit unprotected cells in them and you dont need protection for charging.

DX make some cheap 18650 battery holders that will fit protected cells, they are wired in series with no protection. Shipping is to long for me, i brought one 2 months to get to OZ, but they can be made to balance charge with your hobby charger, i use mine for testing 12.6 volt.

IMO your better off series charging and making your own leads so you can charge all diffrent sized batteries with one set up.

Plug them into a charger. Most nimh Rc battery packs from 2s to 9s are in series and there is no balance charging, with li-po,s from 2s to 14s are balanced charged, laptop are wired in a mix of series and parrallel and charged as a whole, the most common form of charging and what every hobby charger is made to charge is series
