Battery Powered Charger : iPhone 4s

Does anyone have one that works? I would like one that is AA powered but any type that work would be great.

Thanks in advance

You're going to be hard pressed to find one that works out of the box that first cost a decent amount of green. Something about a resistor on the apple cable.

Exactly, I was wondering if one of those that have a USB port on them and no cable would put out enough juice to charge or would I get a error message.

None of the ones that have the Apple cable included seem to work.

Thanks

just a heads up, the 2xAA ones are useless (like the eneloop ones) and will only half charge your battery at best because its only 2.4-3v

The better ones are 4xAA and provide 4.8-6v, iPhone and many other smart phones require 5v to charge. Some will even say "not charging" with the 2xAA versions.

What about these from Int'l Outdoor using your own Apple USB cable? I just ordered two of these. You'd have to use Lithium-Ion though. And it works with a 26650 for added capacity. Doubles as a Li-Ion charger (at a nice 1A rate with A/C power).

I have a number of different ones.

I have one that costs 5 dollars off of ebay that runs with 2 aa. That one will charge usb powered things but not iphones. I would reccomend it for any non-iphone users. I get half a charge with 2 eneloops on my lg xenon.

I also have the goal zero battery pack. http://beprepared.com/product.asp?pn=CM%20P151&sid=GOOGLELA&EID=GLACM%20P151&gclid=CMKnn7ms1a8CFYbe4AodYWdHbA Which I got for 25 dollars on sale at REI which I love and EDC. With the 4 batteries that come with it I can get a full charge into my iphone. The one disadvantage to it is the fact that it takes about 10 hours to charge. While the specs say that you cannot use alkalines you can and it still works.

The other one I have is a duracell lion one. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002FU6KF2/ref=asc_df_B002FU6KF21992913?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395093&creativeASIN=B002FU6KF2&hvpos=1o3&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1722522881386604676&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt= This one will also give me a full charge on my iphone. The other advantage to this one is you can buy it at almost any at&t store. It also is cheaper than the goal zero battery pack.

I was just looking at this kind after watching a youtube review, they have some kind of booster circut that put the output to 5.6v from a single AA.

I don't see any iPhone connection though.

+1 for Intl-Outdoors charger. I’ve seen some AC chargers couldn’t charge an iTab but this does on King Kongs.

I have this charger, I do not have iphone. I can charge my nokia smartphone with 1500mah battery using 2 eneloop 2400mah batteries. It is also a good eneloop battery charger. I have posted pictures on blf.

I use the Duracell CEF23DX4N charger. I bought it at walmart over a year ago for about 20 bucks but nowadays they are harder to find and are more expensive.

Product Features

  • The Duracell Mobile Charger essentially serves as a portable power hub, delivering power from 4 charged batteries
  • Allows users to charge AA or AAA rechargeable Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries by plugging the unit directly into a wall or car outlet
  • Also features an USB port to enable users to charge a wide range of USB-enabled devices with built in rechargeable batteries
  • Provide power to USB devices in 3 ways:via 4 pre-charged NiMH batteries, by plugging the mobile charger into a wall or by plugging into a car adapter

Actually, the main issue with Apple products is that they require a specific voltage to be applied to the data pins of the USB connectors, in contrast with the USB charger standard which is just D+ and D- connected together, with no voltage specified.

Even so, it's pretty easy to hack a normal charger to allow iProducts to charge with. It requires three resistors and some time. In fact, even dumb chargers like this http://www.dealextreme.com/p/2-aa-powered-emergency-charger-with-led-light-for-all-ipod-and-iphone-2g-3g-white-26465?item=13 cancharge to an iPhone 4(or 4s ). This one should give half a charge using a couple of AA batteries (it has a boost circuit inside to bring the 2.4-3V of the batteries to the 5V required for charging).

I have used that one from dx, it started to smell during charge and burned the circuit.

I got a refund from dx. Boost circuit has a heat problem. So the quality is important.
