How to tell a good beam?

Hi all,

I was so impressed with my sipik sk-68 that I bought a couple more to give as gifts. However, I am not sure whether to swap one of the new ones for my one as i think the beam might be slightly better when zoomed. Can anyone let me know how i should decide? Is it better if the lines you can see on the 3 rectangles when the beam is zoomed are clear? Both of the beams are ringy on the outside when zoomed. Both are very similar when unzoomed with a greenish tint around the outside.

Hope this makes sense!

Thanks

I like it crisp and clear, but i like it brighter better. Try them both out at night and see which you prefer.

That was short! :-/

I love my Sipik SK68 bright and with very clear emitter projection. :)

My dad loves his Jim Beam...he likes it smooth.

the definition of a good flood to throw is mainly on the throw ...any light can flood ...these light choose the best throwing emmitter made so if they don't throw well guess what .... it ain't right . a good beam is the tightest smallest square .. A good flood to throw light tightens that box to about half the size of the sipik68.. the tighter .. the brighter .. like a laser.

A good beam is generally not a judgement of a aspheric lens light ..usually people are talking about a light with a reflector.

Qualities of a good beam in an aspheric light would be usually it's ringiness. or lack of ringiness all thru the focusing of the beam .

I only have one flood to throw light that has a perfect beam .with absolutely no rings at all ..it's an old c78 ? or a light like the x2000 and the emitter is like a flat square with 4 wires ...seems like no one in the world knows what it is ..not terribly powerful(90lumens?) 3 mode and has a nicer neutral tint too .

people think because i don't like the sipik68 that much that I'm a flood to throw basher ..it ain't so ..I have about 10 different flood to throw lights
