Dim UltraFire 501A

I have a UF 501A with the 3 mode UF P60 xml drop in from ManaFont and it is Very dim. Is that to be expected because of the single cr123?

If you want to use a CR123 you need to get a low voltage drop in like this Solarforce one to get full brightness and to drain the battery all the way down.

EDIT: Ignore all the below if you are using just a CR123 3V primary. I somehow overlooked that little detail but thankfully E didn't. Do what he says or get yourself some 16340 or 18350 Li-Ions. I never use primaries and when I see people write CR123 I automatically assume they are referring to that size cell and not actually the 3V primaries. Shame on me!

No it is not. My examples with that arrangement are bright as hell. Check if it works any brighter without the tailcap by shorting the negative of the battery directly to the tail threads. If it lights brightly then the issue is in the switch. If it is the switch disassemble and clean it making sure all connections are good and reassemble it.

If it's not the switch then the issue is in the head. Make sure the reflector is not shorting out on the LED solder points. Make sure the driver is securely soldered to the pill and that the spring is securely soldered as well.

If your 501A has the battery cap in the front of the battery tube, knock it out so that the driver spring directly contacts the positive end of the battery. Let us know what happens.

EDIT: Also check first with a second battery that you know is good. Sometimes a battery is just bad and can't provide the necessary power to the driver/LED.

Then your light will be crazy-bright. I don't know how long it will be bright; on high, you will be torturing those cells, but you will have a very bright pocket light...

OK! Ordered the 18350s. I will use the extra one in my Jet Beam RRT0 to fulfill it's destiny.

Charger is the tr001 and is cheaper other places ..it was a steal from dino this past holiday season >almost 5$..I should have bought more :(
