Deal Extreme in MaximumPC magazine

I was catching up on my MaximumPC magazines and in the April isssue on page 38 there was this short article under the COMMERCE section of the "73 AMAZING WEBSITES YOU NEED TO VISIT":

Deal Extreme:

LIKE CHINATOWN BUT WITHOUT THE HAGGLING.

Like all nerds, sometimes we'll take crazy-good deals over quality and customer service. That's Dealextreme.com in a nutshell. This site is a virtual flea market and Chinatown store rolled into one. Where else could you find everything from flashlight parts to cell phone parts to USB cables for dirt cheap? Sure, some of the parts may be knockoffs and good luck with the documentation, but we guarantee that you can't spend fewer than 10 minutes browsing for stuff you don't need but might buy anyway.

All they forgot to mention was that all orders take between 2 and 3 months or even more for delivery.

They had that up on their site awhile ago, I have never dealt with DX to know how bad it is so I didn't comment, but I did know of all the horror stories here.

You're not missing a thing by not dealing with DX. I try to avoid them as much as possible. I just got a good laugh when I read it in the magazine so I thought I'd share it with everyone here.

I used to subscribe to Maximum PC magazine. I am surprised It took this long for them to write on DX.

You are right , if they don't mention the long ship times it may send many people there to buy stuffs. I don't know because I have not ordered from them in awhile if they are shipping in a more timely manner now.

They may have just recruited a new group of soon to be angry "nerds".

A few days ago, i ordered 3 lights. 2 of them shipped out the next day and the 3rd light just recently shipped out. Not bad.

So 6 to 8 weeks and it should be there.

I just received my order from 2 months ago, wrong emitter in pill! should have been XM-L and what I received was an XR-E. I avoid them now, too bad - I believe they are honorable, and have a great selection, however they are not always the lowest price - usually, but not always.

I actually need them by the 19th...but have backup plans. ;)
