I got a yellow one a few weeks ago along with the tame P60 dropin at Solarforce-sales that maxes out at about 1A.
Surprisingly, I keep the yellow P1 out all the time and use if for my yard light. It is just 'different' than all my other lights and I have been enjoying the difference. Much lighter, brighter body, easy to pocket. Not a hugely bright light, but more than most folks ever need in a pocket light.
Something about it makes me handle it on a more regular basis that my other lights. I just like that darn thing. Wish they made it in bright blue and red as well!
I have the yellow, brown, and green ones on the way. But I would have totally gotten an blue and red too, if they were available. My sons have blue and red themed EDC gear, so that purchase would have had to happen. As it stands now, one has the blue L2P and the other will be getting the yellow P1 when it gets here.
So the lights showed up on Friday. Aside from the brown being very brown, I couldn't be happier. Don't mind the color, actually, it's just very close to the green, and I wasn't expecting that. I think I recall one of you guys mentioning that the P1s had a bit of an odor to them and my three are no exception.
What I'd like to know from any of you that have a longer history of ownership, has the smell dissipated over time? I've noticed that the smell stays on my hands as well. I sure hope that goes away.
In this last order from SF, I purchased a half dozen RC switches for my L2Ps that have FC. Planned on switching switches in at least one of the three P1s. That doesn't work by the way. Just tried. So, don't waste your time or money trying it yourself. To be fair to SF, they don't say that those switches would work in the P1, so it was a gamble from the get go.
Not the end of the world as I don't hate FC switches and two of the three P1s are going the single mode route anyway.
I got mine second hand from our xed888, and I don't notice a smell at all. The forward clicky does bug me a little, I have to admit... other than that, I'm really happy with it.
edit: WOOT! typing the above reminded me that I had a spare reverse clicky from my ghetto C8 ( https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/5644 ). It works!
I'd try some Sunshine Orange Rit dye and boil it in a pot of hot water. Works awesome with plastic and nylon RC parts, yellow and white are easiest to dye and you cant really dye any dark colours unless you want it darker or black.
