Jetbeam tcr 01

I was over at CPF and saw this new light that's coming out and wanted to share it over here.

It's the titanium version of the Jetbeam RRT-01. Both are great lights: they run on CR123, 16340, and 18350. Easy one-handed operation without having to flip the light in your hands to access the controls after turning it on. The only control is the ring at the front, which acts as an infinitely variable dimmer switch smoothly dimming the light from off to max (about 550 lumens on IMR 18350).

These lights have the lowest low I've ever seen on any light. As you turn the ring towards the off position the light will gradually get dimmer. I was able to get mine so dim that I could barely see the emitter with dark adapted eyes in a dark room with the light pointing into my eyes from 4 inches away. I got the impression that the light could go even dimmer, but my eyes wouldn't be able to perceive it.

The smooth shallow reflector gives respectable throw with an extremely wide spill, but the ring is very ringy. Not bad for EDC use, but looks awful on a white wall.

These lights are also very small. Smaller than a Sunwayman V10R. Great for EDC use. However, they are NOT cheap. These are decidedly non-budget lights. Shopping around and using vendor coupon codes, the TCR1 can be purchased for approximately $165, and the RRT-01 for approximately $90.

Another option is to go with the Nighteye EYE 10. The EYE 10 was designed by (and licensed by) the same person who designed the RRT-01 and looks almost identical. The EYE 10 is the same size as the RRT-01 but has a few differences: (1) Orange peal reflector - good, (2) U2 emitter instead of T6 - good, (3) multiple detentes in the ring instead of just a single detente at each end, (4) heat sink fins at head - good, (5) different pattern of knurling including control ring only half knurled - bad, (6) higher output: measured at 681 lumens out the front on IMR 18350 - good, (7) Cheaper: approximately $80 - good.

There's also a titanium version of the EYE 10 that looks identical to the TCR1, but so far that version does not appear to be available from any english speaking distributor.

It's a nice light, I just thought I would share it... to rich for my blood right now. Thanks for all the information.

It's a beautiful light but just way too expensive for me.
