Nah, it could be used for self defense but around here it is a great box/package opener. Its actually an extremely small knife it just looks huge in the photo, the cutting edge is about an inch, maybe a hair over. Just a little over 3" overall.
The Spartan is just for fun and for looks. I have carried it but it is a little large for constant pocket carry sometimes. When I carry it now it is in a belt case that I picked up at a gunshow that works very well.
I really like their fixed blades. I only had 2 folders and disposed of the Voyager XL Tanto, keeping the very surprising Tuff-Lite.
Here are most of the fixed blades:

Here's a close-up of the San Mai III Recon Tanto's blade, showing the laminated steel clearly. The line is the transition between the VG-1 and the cladded 'softer' steel:
Hey Chicago, want to sell me your San Mai III master hunter? I REALLY want one! For the price Walmart has it listed on their site (USA site) I would pay double here. Not happening. :(
No point there, just curious. Seemed to me like a knife you would use to give a shot animal the final "push". But as its rather small.. just wondered about the unusual form.^^
I get weird looks when carrying them around because I wear an ice hockey mask for protection..^^
Actually axes are allowed, but some people get nervous when you carry them around. I once walked around with a friend of mine, carrying axes and a chainsaw. We had just picked them up from another friend and had to pick up sth. else from another place, so we walked around a bit, wearing normal clothes, no work suit. When we were on our way back, we saw a police car. Dont know if it was a coincidence but someone also called the cops when I was walking around on jumping stilts with a friend in a nearby park, so..^^
Its just different over here. You cant even own shuriken.. I'm no fan of guns because of the huge amount of dead people (no discussion pls^^) so I wouldnt want the american way of handling weapons, but a little more relaxed would be nice. Some things like dagger, shuriken, katana, trident just look great and would be nice to have hanging on the wall. Katanas/swords in general can be owned, but they have to be blunt.
