Welcome to BLF Jcenzo! Are you here for the Home Depot discussions only?

-Garry

That’s what brought me here, but I’ve been browsing around throughout for a little.

While penny deals are great …and my defiant dedicated super thrower was a super penny deal . i still think I like my FREE Energizer lantern better….
a penny saved is a penny earned

My local hd now has those black & decker chargers on clearance.
Looks like more stores are clearing them out.

Me too, I was just looking through the reviews, then checking the deal alerts and found this thread…now I’m a hopeless addict.

Run away Jcenzo run away before it’s too late!

And I think these are the best homedepot penny deal related posts anywhere in the internet; especially dchomak’s posts - can’t get any better.

Agreed, I tried searching for others when I was trying to figure out why my local stores never seemed to have the deals I saw on here. I could not find anything lose to dchomak’s level of dedication and information.

Now if only my local stores would get lazy and allow deals to actually drop like they should….

United Gilsonite Lab Drylok Clear Masonry Waterproofer - 1 Gallon

I saw some of that stuff awhile back when it first went on clearance. Nice to know it pennied out.?

This past weekend I traveled 200+ miles into Pennsylvania for a wedding. I made the mistake of traveling through New York on Friday afternoon during rush hour :confounded: At one point it took me 4 hours to travel 20 miles.
My purpose for that was to visit the World’s Largest Home Depot, located in Vauxhall, NJ
I tried to take a picture of the store in the parking lot. Standing from the furthest part, this all of the store I could get in the shot. BTW, all these pics will be at 100% width for effect.
It was late, very late due to my 4 hour traffic jam.

The only way I could get a full shot of the store, it is huge, is from google earth. I measured the length and width, not including the garden section, and it looks like there is 230,000 square feet of retail space.

When you first walk in you come upon the Customer Service area. Count them, there are 6 employees back there.

Turning to my left is a shot of the store in it’s shorter wing. Notice there is a full size Dunkin Donuts store left most with seating and tables.

Turning to the right is the even longer wing of the store. Notice that there are 18 checkout registers! As I said, it was late and from what I can see in this picture, only register 16 is lit. That was the self checkout register and it had 4 self checkout terminals.

Actually, those checkouts only go down to 11 in this part of the store. There is a large gap and then registers 1 thru 10 are much further down. So far down that in this picture they disappear into the horizon.
Just to the right of Customer Service is the Automotive section. I made a bee line for that as I wanted to check and see what they had. Other stores do not have an automotive section.

Car batteries were full price, but the first I noticed was this.

I posted a couple of weeks ago about the 6000 pound REESE hitches and how they had gone to a penny and replaced by identical looking 7000 lb hitches. In all I have previously found 5 at a penny.
Well this store had a bunch of both, so I grabbed a couple and brought them up to self checkout. They scanned at full price, $29.97. What the….? My heart sank as I was bringing them back. I thought this store is so HUGE, they NEVER have to clear out anything. THEY HAVE SO MUCH SPACE.
The next thing I came across sort of confirmed what I was thinking.

In the cleaning section, next to automotive hangs both the 6’ telescoping poles AND the 9’ telescoping poles. Each on their hook with their price. A month or so ago, the 9’ poles went to a penny. I have been finding them at stores because they look just like the non clearanced 6’ poles. I look for the 2 white rings as the 9’ has 3 sections and the 6’ just 2. When I saw that display I thought to myself, see that not cleared out and still for sale a full price. I took one anyway and brought it up to scan. A penny! So I went back and rounded them all up and checked out.
It was getting really late now, close to closing time, so when I went back in I went right back to the cleaning section to look for items I know should be a penny.

Mops and poles. A couple of weeks ago the RubberMaid mop pole and cotton mop combos went to a penny. They were replaced with new stock. Old stock that went to a penny have wide red bands at the heal of the mop. The new stock have black heals.
Here is the first of 4 I pulled from in back of the display. What a tangled mess of poles and mops that display was.
On the left is the penny item, on the right $16.97

At this point it was too late to “walk the store”, it would take hours anyway. In automotive I saw this and it confirms what
Bc412 mentioned a few days ago, the Black and Decker stuff is on clearance in other States. Notice the “4” price, in about 3 weeks it will go to half of this and then to a penny. I got the boosters at an even $20, looks like this time they will go to $17.52, or more likely $18.02

Here is some other stuff I saw while in NY
The Ridgid TriStack’s have gone to a penny. I actually found a store that had 2 on the floor, but when I checked for price with my UPC code I wasn’t careful and the checkout person saw it. Of course there was a lot of commotion and they were pulled. I really wasn’t expecting it to be a penny, I was hoping it would be $75.03!
I should have gone to Customer Service and offered the $75.03 each for the 2, but I didn’t think of that until about an hour later.

Another store in NY, this time at an in store price scanner. This store had no stock.

This store had 5 of these “Connect Starter Kits” Each package contains 2 complete kits, but they scanned for $134.97 each

Broom pole with both coarse and fine brooms

And this, only in NY.
Straight ahead, that is a 10 story Self storage facility. If I keep buying stuff, I may have to look into renting one of those units

I need to go to Home Depot.

About 2 weeks ago, Sept 21, I posted that the Artic Cove 18V mister fans had hit the “2” price of $20.02

They went fast, never saw any others after the first few days. That is until today. The box was all beat up and it didn’t include the battery or charger, but it did scan for a penny.
So all I got was the fan, but I already have plenty of batteries and chargers.

I also saw this USB or battery powered fan marked down to $4.96

I brought in a USB power bank to test one right in the store. It draws only 110mA, it would run for hours and hours off one of these.

Now that Apple has eliminated the headphone jack, Home Depot is clearing out the Ryobi “Phone Works” line. Most stores have all the accessories at 75% off. All of these plug into a smart phone, Apple or Android thru the headphone jack, and work in conjunction with the free apps.

They sell out fast, this store was almost stripped clean.

The padded carrying case is on clearance also. Has a padded interior with removable foam pieces to easily configure the space inside.

To me, the most useful tool is the inspection camera. I had been using an USB endoscope camera and a laptop. This is much more convenient, it uses your high resolution phone display.

I bought the Laser level and IR thermometer do-hickeys for $10 each yesterday, and returned them today. The laser level worked ok, although you really need a tripod to make sure the level is level itself. The IR thermometer wouldn’t work at all. If you look up some reviews, including of the Android app itself, you’ll see these things are a bit of a crapshoot, not very reliable.

I can’t see the point of any of it other than the inspection camera. For instance, why need your phone just to get a temperature reading?
Granted, you can log results etc. On the other hand, check out the problems I had with a set of 3 IR thermometers I got a couple of years ago at COSTCO :confounded:

Checking the temperature of our refrigerator, Fahrenheit scale.

Don’t need a phone, but $10 is a good deal for a thermometer… If it worked

phone?

I meant to grab one of these just to play with. Somehow I got distracted and walked out without one.
I couldn’t tell if this supports TF cards or if it needs to be activated for the bluetooth mp3 player to work.

Didn’t get a pic, but did see the Cat brand 1000 watt power inverter in the clearance rack. Marked at $78 from $122. Looks like the bod was 9/5 but they were not there last weekend.

There was also a Cat brand car battery charger, but couldn’t find a label for it.

Going to keep a close eye on those!

I also saw a guy very fastidiously looking up barcodes on drill bits and comparing them to something on his phone. He was digging into the back and comparing them to the ones in the front. I was very tempted to walk by and whisper Dchomak…

Stopped by HD on my way to work. Was able to grab one of those green 80’ extension cords for a penny and a a dewalt battery pack from a recycle bin! Guess I’ll have to stop by there on my way to work more often. !!

I worked at HD for a while. Every manager I worked under was very proactive about clearing out the “penny” items. They came up on a report each day to be cleared out, and my managers would run the report a day early so there was virtually no chance of finding one unless it fell down in a crack somewhere. Even then the cashiers are told to not let the customer out the door with it if they can.

All that to say: I’m jealous of you guys.
