X30 Searchlight review (Pic heavy)

I am very humbled that I was asked to do a review on the LuxStone X30 searchlight. Here: Amazon.com

User robo819 did an awesome video review here: LuxStone X30 Diving/Search light Review

My first impressions of the light are good. It came well packed and in a hard case. The contents included were:

• X30 Rechargeable Light
• Hard case
• 12v charger
• User manual
• Shoulder strap
• Charger port cap with 2 extra o rings
• Waterproof grease for o rings
• Opaque rubber cap to help lock switch while in the case
• Opaque cap to use in lieu of charger port cap
• Red lens
• Green lens

Grabbing this light from the case I noticed very even anodizing, a unique rotating switch and holes near the handle to mount the shoulder strap. It’s well machined and the emitter shelf sits deep in the center of a large heat finned portion. On the bottom side there are two little tabs to help it sit handle up on a table and a tripod mounting hole. The main lens had protective film on it with a peel off tab as did the green and red filters on both sides. Out of curiosity I removed the charger port cap and heard air escaping. This leads me to believe that this light is well sealed and held pressure during shipping. The cap threads are greased and inside you find a 12v charging port and the indicator lights. The indicator lights will come on for charging and during use of the light. The handle placement is well balanced at the spot where your index finger is placed and the rotary switch is easily adjusted by your thumb. The reflector is somewhat of a hybrid whereas where the centering ring should be there is an orange peel ring. The knurling on the filters is pretty smooth but it is done well. The filters mate to the light easily and feel solid threading on. Rotating the knob toward the back of the light will have it starting in low with a stop at low. You may then smoothly ramp it from low to high with a stop at high. One more stop will get you into S.O.S. You can rotate the knob either direction or continually in the same direction. Phew…! That’s a lot of talking let’s get to some pics!

Hotspot has a weird colored ring but the spot itself isn’t bad and not noticeable outdoors.

Over all I think this is a very well thought out light. The tint isn’t really too cold and modes become second nature after a few minutes. I hate to admit that comparing it to my prized KRONOS X6 it swallows the X6’ beam up. The throw/ flood combo is nice. You can sort of “spot light” distant things but also see where you’re walking at the same time. It has massive run times touting Samsungs with 7400 mah worth of internal batteries I’m guessing a 2s2p setup but I find no Samsung with a 3700 mah rating so I can’t guess what model they used. The case is a great addition as I could see this light being kept in a first responder vehicle.

Issues found were some imperfections near the led and o.p. ring and some tiny spots on the smo reflector. Also this light gets pretty warm which is good that they are driving it! But it took a good half hour for it to reach the heat fins which worries me that the heat is not getting out and away from the emitter, driver and batteries fast enough.

Nice review, I’m surprised they let you keep the light instead of asking you to send it back, it has a hefty price tag after all.

Not sure what to say about the price but it has some nice elements to it. I like the looks and the build quality is top from what I see in the two reviews. Judging by the battery capacity and emitter being used I would say this was designed many years ago and they didn’t bother to upgrading the components.

Thanks! Full review should be complete soon. Posted by accident again but at least this time the title explains it  . From what I could figure out they are having a tough time finding people with similar lights to review it. I’m not really their first option but I wanted to make sure I got some good pics and my best possible opinion. I asked if it was staying at that price and never got a response.

Thanks for the review mate. I like the design of the handle and rotary switch. It looks nice. Damn the price tho haha

Nice pictures. It sure looks that this light is engineered with quality in mind. Though, as said elsewhere, the main layout is maybe a bit outdated. That could be caused by the time it cost to build this thing from scratch. Product specifications, choosing components and ultimately working on the shell. The price suggests a newcomer who enters a niche market.
BTW, the manual says: 7.4V 7,800mAh, so I think it is using 2,600 mAh protected batteries in a 2S3P setup

Holy crap! 600 bucks I swear people will buy just about anything.
