HaikeLite Preview for MINI Triple-XHP70 prototypes--Discussion thread

working very hard on it. Selling have to wait until our QC approved.

For you guys, I think it’s better waitting for a testing review.

Hi Haikelite,

A lot of people here mod the lights, and therefore are interested in easy access to the leds and drivers. I’m interested in easy access primarily for possible repairs. If a driver is busted, then the manufacturer can just send me a new one and I can fix it myself. Otherwise I have to send the light (shipping cost), and it’s gone for several months… I find a construction that you can completely disassemble without (special) tools also very elegant.
Anyhow, easy access to components is something to consider as well when manufacturing flashlights.

What are you going to mode in triple xhp70 light? What driver are you going to put in that will work with 2 electronic switches?

I don’t mod. But it seems a lot of modders want more output. you can use just 1 of the 2 switches, and the mini version only has one switch. Maybe shave the domes. Change the emitters to high CRI XHP70. Who knows, maybe Vinh will put his own driver if possible…

Ssshhh, don't tell him, but, resistor modding, or swapping wires, or potting, or ...

One switch you mean

Yes, this light has just one switch, but two switch's is not a problem. I'd go with Narsil/Attiny85/LDO/FET, maybe 1 7135, maybe a bank, maybe both - depending on the I/O pin availability.

Hi Tom

The engineer is abit concerned that non-flashoholic users will dissamble the light out of curiosity to cause some damage.

In fact the retaining ring part has not been machined. Will discuss it again with our engineers tomorrow.

I vote also for retaining ring on the driver .

thanks!

+1

Thank you too

If you use a snap ring

With very small holes Tom and the likes can still open it up but people not in the know won’t do it.

Not a good idea for a solid contact .
Just my thought

Threaded ring would be preferred, but if you want, don't leave any guide holes - we can drill them, not a problem...

looking forward for a review, but so far im interested. The price will decide if I give it a shot

Good looking light!

Have you applied for a review? They want someone to do a video review if I’m not mistaken.

Solution confirmed —Threaded copper ring.

Nice!!

Hello Haikelite,

can you perhaps share some information about the stepdown process?

- How long can the light produce 8000 lumens before stepping down?

- Is it time based, or is it temperature based?

- Is there a fulltime thermal protection on the light?

  • And do you get the full 8000 lumens with half depleted cells?

Thanks!

The reflector is very shallow. Not gonna see any useful light in 200 metres range. Sometime a hotpsot is needed to spot things at distance.
Interesting to see how this compete with olight x7.

Any auto step down from turbo or high?

And why there is a gap between body tube and head?
