Quite the opposite, from experience. They mix together everything that claims to be the same, and send you whatever’s on top of the bin, no matter who actually provided it originally.
Well when i get it, ill take a better picture .But yes i agree with the things you point out was thinking the same just wanted to hear some other opinion.
TT6 just arrived and at just a really fast look it appears to be a Cree. I have to go mow grass but after that and a shower I will dig deeper. I took a quick phone camera shot of the LED but loading it is proving to be a task lol.
I think I may have been lucky this time. I just got showered and still need to eat but from just looking at it through about a 20 power magnifier it looks like a real Cree XML, I will start opening it up soon and I will post what I find. One thing I have noticed already is it is most certainly in the range of 500 to 600 lumens which is what this vendor is actually stating where most double that... Back soon with something one way or another.
Here are 3 shots as good as I could get with just the phone camera. The more I look at it and the clone I got from eBay the more it looks like a Cree. I could only get the star out just enough to see there is nothing at all written on the back, digging deeper at my knowledge level would be bad...
Well during re-assembly of the new sk98 that arrived today I snapped an O ring and nothing at all to fit. Headed out to Walmart, they are open all night and they gotta have assorted O rings... WRONG, after I explained what an O ring is and finally had to take out the light I had on me and actually show him what an O ring is, apparently that is the one thing they do not sell... Finally got back home and after looking though some other lights I found one that was probably a little better as it is just a tiny bit thicker.... So back to assembly and now the reflector will not thread. Part of that is my fault, the snap ring pliers I normally use are in my tool chest at work so I used a set that I am not as use to. It is set pretty decent now but I have to eventually get that replaced.
Best part was comparing it to the one I got from eBay that I know to be a Latticebright, seeing the difference is very simple even just zooming them both as far as they can and point them at the wall. Even my wife saw a huge difference. I will take a shot of that shortly and post it.
Okay I hope that this picture is a decent enough shot that you can see the difference. The light on the left is the one from eBay and for sure a Latticebright. The one on the right is the sk98 that arrived today.
It is obvious that one had a longer focus range, but I can handle that for the difference in just the light color alone. It is hard to see in the picture but the sk98 is a good deal brighter.
I have 2 XML'S 1 clone for sure but looking closer at the other now and I want a higher opinion. Either way both care coming out and new XM-L2's replacing them with much better boards. Provided I can keep the things centered. The butterfly gaskets I ordered have a smaller hole than the retaining ring. At least on this first one. Pictires below...
The run off you see on this one is my fault. It's Flux. both pics are same emitter.
This shot has bettet light and much more clear, and cleaned up some of the flux.
